HOME AND JUSTICE Conservatives Britain is our home. It is the great nation in which we live, work and aspire. It is therefore of huge importance that we keep Britain secure and safe. Labour has dismally failed to do so. Since 1997, crime rates have remained appalling. Police officers have become tangled in red tape and terrorism has had a huge impact on British lives. Our justice system remains flawed in several vital areas. We at the Conservative Party believe that better can be done. Under a Conservative Government, with the Home and Justice departments under the leadership of George Saxon, a modern politician with a wealth of innovative proposals, Our policemen and women would be put back on the beat. Our national security would be stronger than ever, and punishments would fit crimes. A Conservative Majority Government would: -Cut down on police red tape -Grant police officers greater stop-and-search powers -Ensure the Security Service is properly funded and managed -Work with local councils to tackle issues such as graffiti and vandalism -Support and encourage neighbourhood watch programmes -Raise the minimum fine for dog fouling -Ensure that wrongdoers of all ages partake in community service. E.g, a youth spraying graffiti in a public area would be required to remove the graffiti. -Life should mean life - a Conservative Government would ensure that the most serious of wrongdoers are kept out of society for good -Fully oppose prisoner votes. Prisoners are prisoners for a reason. They have betrayed society and do not deserve the right to make decisions relating to elections. "Anything is achievable when the right steps are taken by the right people" ~George Saxon
