Wil Brasington has been declared the winner of the Greenville City Council District 4 seat. Brasington defeated incumbent David Sudduth in the Republican primary in June, and nobody else filed by the deadline for petition and write-in candidates, leading Greenville’s Municipal Election Commission to declare him the winner of the seat. He will be sworn in on Dec. 11 before the council’s formal meeting. Phillip Kilgore, an incumbent on the Commission of Public Works who was unopposed in the Republican primary in June, was also declared a winner by the election commission. He will also be sworn in on Dec. 11. There are two contested races on the Nov. 7 general election ballot: Incumbent Lillian Brock Flemming faces Republican challenger Matt Cotner for the District 2 Council seat, and Republican John DeWorken and Democrat Russell Stall face off for the at-large Council seat now held by Gaye Sprague. City residents who want to vote in the Nov. 7 election must register no later than Saturday, Oct. 7. —Cindy Landrum
