Dear Chamber Members and Community Partners,

It’s an honor to introduce myself as the new President and CEO of the Westerville Area Chamber. While I’m stepping into this role after Janet Tressler-Davis’ remarkable 33-year tenure, I want to be clear I’m not here to replace her. Janet’s leadership shaped the Chamber into what it is today, and my goal is to carry that legacy forward into a new era of growth and impact.

I’m not new to Westerville or the Chamber. Over the past 20 years, I’ve seen the growth, experienced our brightest and toughest days, and gotten to know the very fiber of this community. This place isn’t just where I work – it’s home. I’ve lived here, graduated from Otterbein University and built relationships that remind me daily why Westerville is special.

As we look ahead, our mission is simple yet bold: amplify the voice of business throughout greater Westerville and deepen our community impact. That means leaning into collaboration with our partners and harnessing the strength of our innovative business community. Together, we’ll ensure Westerville remains the premier place to live, work, play and do business.

Networking Meetings

Quarterly Membership Luncheons

At each quarterly luncheon, attendees learn about topics relevant to the business climate and connect with other Chamber and community members. One annual luncheon features an update from elected officials. Other luncheon topics in 2025 included: “Runway to Growth: Upcoming Expansion at John Glenn Columbus International Airport,”“Smart City, Smarter Community: The Road Ahead” and “Driving a Healthy Workforce: Practical Strategies for Business Leaders.”

Women in Business Luncheons

Westerville’s Women in Business (WIB) Network provides a trust-based learning environment within the Chamber. The goal of WIB events is to encourage members to share, learn and help each other succeed.

A variety of luncheons, workshops and socials are held annually. The Women in Business Luncheons are intended to deliver meaningful educational opportunities, inspiring participants to take what they learn back to their organization.

During the 2025 luncheons, the Women in Business Network’s philanthropic efforts included partnering with Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM) and I Support the Girls Columbus to collect donations for local families as well as for women and girls facing homelessness and crisis. Women in Business also offers opportunities for networking and personal growth. A more recent initiative, our monthly Coffee Wednesday series, invites women who are Chamber members and women in

the community, to meet informally over coffee for both business-to-business and personal connections. The series regularly sees an average of 30 new and returning faces each month.

Young Leader Events

The purpose of the Westerville Area Chamber’s Young Leaders Network is to attract, build up and connect young talent in the Westerville business community, and introduce them to other business professionals to provide professional, personal and community development. Our most successful initiatives have been Speed Networking events and a holiday toy drive and wrapping party to benefit youth in foster and kinship care through Franklin County Children Services’ Holiday Wish Program. In 2025, 300-plus toys were collected and wrapped by the Westerville Chamber community for newly placed children in state care.

Business After Hours

The purpose of a Business After Hours event is to provide an opportunity for our members to promote themselves and host fellow Chamber members, business colleagues and their guests in a fun, happy-hour type environment. These events are typically on the third Thursday of the month from 5:30-7:30 p.m. To promote best attendance, only one BAH event is held per month.

Combined Chamber Business Expo and After Hours

The Westerville Area, Dublin, Worthington and Hilliard Chambers of Commerce join to create one of the biggest and best business expos in central Ohio. This Business Expo and After Hours event provides the opportunity to network with businesses in the area while enjoying complimentary appetizers and a cash bar.

Small Office Home Office

A network of small business owners designed to support and inspire each participant by sharing ideas, problem solving and strategizing sk ills and by learning from each other’s experiences. The group meets monthly.

Leadership Westerville

Leadership Westerville is a 501c3 organization created and managed by the Westerville Area Chamber. Its signature program is a dynamic, ninemonth leadership program focused on developing well-informed, empowered community leaders. Focused on advancing the greater Westerville area, the Leadership Westerville program looks to educate and enlist participants to become community leaders through civic engagement, stewardship and collaboration. Participants in the program assist with two major service projects including the Westerville Snow Patrol (volunteers removing snow for seniors) and Service Day (volunteers assisting with outdoor home projects for seniors).

Leadership Westerville also coordinates a Martin Luther King Jr. Legacy Project committee that plans an annual breakfast celebration for 350 community members to celebrate the life and legacy of Dr. King.

Westerville Community Events

Taste of Westerville

Every spring, more than 350 members and guests experience delicious culinary offerings from our Westerville Area Chamber members at the Annual Taste of Westerville. The event features restaurants, as well as wine and beer tastings. Local celebrity judges in attendance award restaurants with titles such as Westerville’s Tastiest, Best Presentation and more. Guests are encouraged to join in the fun by voting for their favorite restaurant for the People’s Choice Award. Chamber members have the opportunity to showcase their businesses through strategically placed marketing and sponsorships at the event as well as donations to the event raffle.

Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce Music & Arts Festival

A 50-plus-year tradition, the Chamber organizes 125 fine arts and crafts exhibitors as well as youth art exhibitors. Visitors can also enjoy music on three stages, 20 food trucks and a silent auction over two-days. Saturday includes an evening concert after festival hours. This large community event allows increased visibility to Chamber businesses that sponsor the

event as it has a significant economic impact on the city. A study was completed on the economic impact of the Music & Arts Festival and found that more than half of attendees come from outside our Westerville zip codes. It is estimated that their indirect spending in our community during the festival weekend is more than $950,000, supporting our Chamber members and Westerville area businesses.

Annual Golf Outing

Chamber members enjoy a day out on the course with co-workers and clients during our annual golf outing. The outing features 18 holes of play, a cart, lunch, beverages and snacks on the course as well as prizes, raffles and virtual results. Following play, players enjoy appetizers and a cocktail hour with fellow participants.

Evening of Elegance

Community members and Chamber members enjoy a glamourous evening with friends and colleagues at the annual Evening of Elegance event, featuring a plated dinner, a live as well as a silent auction, wine tastings, a raffle and more. The Evening of Elegance is the Chamber’s largest fundraiser of the year and provides visibility to Chamber members through sponsorships and donations.

Advocacy Events and Committees

Candidate Forum

Every other year Westerville has an election for Board of Education and City Council. The Chamber organizes and offers candidate forums in the fall. Average attendance is 40-90 people per forum. Forums are live streamed and available to view online for those unable to attend in person.

Election Academy

The Election Academy offers current or future political candidates an opportunity to learn how to run an effective campaign. Session topics include election processes with a representative from the Ohio Secretary of State’s office, ethics in public office with the Ohio Ethics Commission, lessons shared from past local elected officials, campaign financing and building your team as well as post-election responsibilities. Graduates of the academy include some current Westerville City Council members, some board of education members and some state representatives.

The Westerville Area Chamber is more than events and networking – we’re an instigator for positive change. Rather than simply helping businesses cope with change, we work to shape it. As a convener of business, civic, nonprofit and community leaders, we serve as a trusted resource and a voice for progress.

A recent Harris Poll conducted by the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives revealed that 88 percent of Americans believe their local chamber impacts community challenges, and 81 percent agree chambers are the most trusted resource and partner for businesses. That trust drives our work every day. Through our Westerville Business Advocacy Council, we meet monthly with local elected officials and regional partners to tackle challenges and identify solutions for doing business in today’s environment. Workforce remains a top priority. Every other month, we co-host WorkWISE with the City of Westerville Economic Development team, bringing together major employers, regional partners and members of the Westerville Partnership – a dynamic collaboration among the City, Westerville City Schools, Otterbein University and the Westerville Public Library. Together, we address talent pipeline issues, share resources and align strategies to strengthen our workforce.

Leadership development is another cornerstone of our mission. Through Leadership Westerville and our biennial Election Academy, we equip community leaders and candidates with the tools to lead our community effectively and responsibly. Uptown Westerville Inc. events bring fun –and funds – to historic district

Uptown Westerville Inc. and its many collaborators are preparing for another year full of public events in historic Uptown during 2026. The positive economic impact of these events is sizeable, and growing, as these events draw in thousands of attendees, turning Uptown into a regional entertainment, dining and shopping destination, enjoyed by faithful followers and envied by other cities in the area.

UWI estimates special event attendance drew in 174,750 visitors to Uptown in 2025, with a total spending of $6.14 million at Uptown Businesses!

From springtime events that arrive March 16 with the opening of the Saturday Farmers Market (weekly May 16 through Sept. 26), to the monthly fun of the Fourth Friday street festivals from May to October (themes-May 22 Art Hop, June 26 America’s 250th Birthday, July 24 Summer Fun, Aug. 28 School Spirit, Sept. 25 Fall Festival and Oct. 23 Midnight Madness), to the annual Uptown Untapped craft beer festival Aug. 8, events are held throughout the entire year. Additionally, don’t forget to try the slew of Walking Tours and live theatrical events livening up State Street. Our 2026 event schedule will end with the Holidays in Uptown celebration, in November and December.

Westerville boasts an extensive park system with more than 650 acres of parkland across 46 locations. Otterbein University

A True Community Resource

Otterbein University was founded in 1847 as a college of opportunity and continues to operate on the principle that an educated citizenry benefits the community.

Expanding its commitment to access and affordability, Otterbein has developed a financial aid program designed to cover full tuition for Ohio College Opportunity Grant recipients, making a college degree possible for more low-to-moderate-income Ohioans. In fall 2025, 44 percent of the incoming students were Pell-eligible.

Otterbein’s 2,400 students don’t just learn about their majors, they learn the professional skills that employers say they want. The University recently launched its new Otterbein READY career preparation curriculum through which students will learn how to network, participate in mock interviews, receive mentoring and have a career plan they develop. In fall 2025, Otterbein hosted its first READY Day, an innovative, annual professional development conference required for every student with intentionally planned programming and opportunities personalized for each year of study. More than 100 businesses, community partners and graduate schools participated.

Otterbein also has developed 19 Graduate Early Admission Pathways,

which give students the chance to get a head start on an Antioch University graduate degree at no additional cost while finishing their Otterbein undergraduate degree. Students save time and money while earning a graduate degree.

While Otterbein focuses on preparing its students to make contributions, it never forgets its own role in its community. Otterbein’s Advantage Scholarship is available to the dependent children of employees of Westerville Area Chamber of Commerce members, making the quality of a private college education available at state school prices.

The Point at Otterbein, a 21st century incubator to economic innovation, brings together education, industry and government; provides internships and professional experiences for students; and houses a Maker Space available to the public.

The seven members of Westerville City Council represent residents as local government’s only elected officials, per the City Charter. As Westerville’s legislative body, City Council sets policy, establishes goals and approves and oversees the City’s annual budget.

Citizen’s Academies

The City of Westerville offers academies for citizens to participate in and learn more about City operations.

The Westerville Division of Fire (WFD) offers a Citizen’s Fire Academy to all Westerville and Blendon Township residents. The 12-week program takes participants through basic firefighting and EMS training scenarios. Graduates earn certifications in first aid and CPR and are invited to join the Citizen’s Auxiliary Resource Team – a volunteer group that assists WFD with community events throughout the year. Through instruction on topics relative to the role of law enforcement in the community, the Citizen’s Police Academy is a 12-week class to increase citizen awareness of the dayto-day operations of the Westerville Division of Police (WPD).

City Council also considers recommendations from eight different boards and commissions, which evaluate matters of special interest in a number of different areas. Westerville became one of the first municipalities in Ohio to adopt the Council-Manager form of government more than 100 years ago. To this day, the City Manager leads day-today operations in Westerville and reports to City Council. This structure helps ensure the continuance of stellar City services and the strong, steady growth of Westerville’s residential and business communities. Participants learn about relevant WPD topics, including the division’s organizational structure, drug investigations and officer training. Participants also participate in activities such as mock building searches and simulated traffic stops.

The popularity of the fire and police academies inspired the City to develop the Westerville Citizen’s Academy. This eightweek program offers access to known and lesser-known city programs and services. Classes are interactive and include exploring equipment, facility tours, demonstrations and other hands-on activities.
