SPRING 2026

Properly managed IT means peace of mind for business owners.

HHHHH

“We made a switch this year from our long time IT servicer to Sass IT Services based on a recomendation and we couldn't be more pleased. There were many timeline issues involved with making the switch and Chris did miracles to have us up and running on time. Would advise anyone looking for a professional, responsive IT vender to call Sass IT.”

HHHHH

“Chris is responsive to the individual needs of sta and works with them to ensure they can access the technology they need to provide services to their students. He has spent time learning about our organization and the work we do to better meet our needs. Most importantly, I have always found Chris to be pleasant, patient, and easy to work with.”

HHHHH

“SASS IT is fantastic! Always quick to respond, very knowledgeable, and takes the time to explain everything clearly. They make IT issues stress free and easy to understand. I completely trust them with our systems and highly recommend SASS IT to anyone looking for reliable and professional support.”

Letter FROM THE Mayor

Dear Woodstock Residents,

As winter approaches, Woodstock is full of festive energy, community connections, and opportunities to gather and celebrate. There’s no better time to enjoy all that our city has to offer.

The newly renovated Woodstock Opera House and the Recreation Team have launched a full season of events, activities, and must-see holiday shows that are sure to delight residents of all ages. While the Rec Center continues its transformation, the Dean Street Rec Center keeps programs running strong, providing plenty of ways to stay active, engaged, and connected this season.

Our community holiday traditions are especially meaningful because they bring together both residents and visitors from near and far. The Lighting of the Square hosts carolers, children’s activities, shopping, dining, and Santa’s grand entrance. The Annual Woodstock Christmas Parade celebrates local organizations and businesses. Finally, the Groundhog Day Celebration opens Woodstock’s arms to all who wish to join in the fun. We are proud to share our city’s spirit and hospitality with everyone who visits.

These events, programs, and spaces reflect the heart of our community, a city that values connection, creativity, and celebration. I am grateful for the dedication of our City staff and for residents like you who make Woodstock a vibrant, welcoming place year-round.

Here’s to a season of joy, community, and new experiences, both for those who live here and those who come to experience all that Woodstock has to offer! With appreciation,

Mayor Mike Turner

Public Works will collect and mulch discarded Holiday trees Jan. 5–30, 2026. Set your tree out on the parkway (between the sidewalk and street) by 7:00 AM on your regular garbage day for pickup.

TREE COLLECTION TIPS

• Place trees only on the public parkway (not private property or common areas).

• No branches, wreaths, or greenery bundles.

• Secure your tree so it doesn’t blow into the street.

IMPORTANT!

All ornaments, tinsel, lights, decorations, nails, bags, and stands MUST be removed before pickup. Trees are mulched right away and cannot be collected with these items attached.

Please note: Snow and ice control may delay collection. If your tree is missed, call Public Works at (815) 338-6118 or email pwdept@woodstockil.gov.

COMMUNITY CONNECTION

COMMUNITY GARDEN PLOTS AVAILABLE

WATCH FOR TURTLES!

From April through October, turtles cross local roads seeking food, mates, and nesting spots; especially mid-May through mid-July.

• Stay alert near ponds, creeks, and wetlands.

• Don’t swerve or stop suddenly in traffic.

• If safe, help turtles cross in the direction they’re headed. Pick them up gently from both sides behind the front legs and keep them low to the ground.

Protecting wildlife helps keep Woodstock’s natural areas thriving!

COMMUNITY RESOURCES

WHAT TO KNOW WHEN IT SNOWS

WHO PLOWS WHICH ROADS?

Public Works plows over 117 miles of City streets. The following routes are maintained by IDOT:

• U.S. Route 14 • IL Route 47

• Portions of IL Route 120

For state highway issues (snow, ice, potholes, debris), contact:

• IDOT Local Office: (815) 338-4680

• IDOT Region 1: (847) 705-4401

• Online: www.idot.illinois.gov → Contact

MAILBOX OR PARKWAY DAMAGE

If your mailbox or parkway is damaged by City snowplows, contact Public Works within 10 days at pwdept@woodstockil.gov or 815-338-6118.

• The City will repair or replace standard mailboxes damaged by City equipment.

• Temporary mailboxes may be provided until full repairs can be made.

• Custom mailboxes or posts cannot be replaced, but residents may request up to $75 reimbursement with prior approval.

Parkway turf damage will be repaired in spring (typically after May 1) when conditions allow. For mailbox placement guidelines, visit woodstockil.gov/snow.

WINTER PARKING RULES

• You may park in public lots up to 24 hours maximum

• Lots may be temporarily closed for snow removal. Please respect closure signs.

• Vehicles may be ticketed or towed at the owner’s expense if they interfere with snow removal.

• Overnight Parking: No parking for longer than 30 minutes between 2:00 - 6:00 AM.

• After a 3” snowfall:

• Street parking throughout Woodstock is prohibited at all times. Vehicles may be ticketed or towed.

• Downtown parking is prohibited after 11:00 PM on these streets.

SNOW & ICE CONTROL

Public Works uses a conservative, environmentally friendly salting policy to keep roads safe:

• Salt is pre-wetted before application to improve effectiveness and reduce waste.

• Key areas like intersections, stop signs, hills, and cul-de-sacs are spot salted.

• Snow is cleared mechanically to reduce costs and protect groundwater.

SHOVELING TIPS

SIDEWALK SNOW REMOVAL

With more than 100 miles of sidewalk across Woodstock, Public Works crews can’t clear every one, but you can help!

Residents are strongly encouraged to remove snow and ice from the sidewalks in front of their homes or businesses as soon as possible after a storm. Keeping sidewalks clear helps keep pedestrians, especially students, safe and out of the street.

The downtown sidewalks are cleared and salted by Public Works after each snowfall.

DON’T PUSH SNOW INTO THE STREET

Please do not push or blow snow from your driveway into the street or onto a neighbor’s property.

This practice creates traffic hazards and violates City Ordinance. Please be a good neighbor and keep snow on your own property.

WHY THE PLOW CAN’T AVOID YOUR DRIVEWAY

We know it’s frustrating when the plow leaves snow at the end of your driveway, but it’s unavoidable.

If drivers lifted the plow for every driveway, snow would spill into the road, blocking inlets and creating hazards.

Pro tip: Shovel snow to the right side of your driveway (as you face the street). This helps reduce the amount pushed back after plowing.

FIRE HYDRANTS Help protect your neighborhood!

When you shovel your driveway, clear a 2–3 foot radius around the hydrant near your home and make sure it’s visible from the street.

With over 1,400 hydrants citywide, every bit helps. In an emergency, this can save firefighters precious time and lives.

WINTER HOME CHECKLIST

WINTERIZATION TIPS

Get your home ready for winter and save money on energy bills. A little prep now can prevent costly repairs later!

• Have your furnace inspected and cleaned.

• Change filters monthly.

• Clean gutters to prevent ice dams.

• Flush your water heater.

• Reverse ceiling fans to push warm air down.

• Add window film, weather stripping, and draft guards.

FROZEN WATER PIPE PREVENTION

• Shut off and drain outdoor spigots.

• Seal cold air leaks near pipes.

• Insulate pipes in crawl spaces, basements, or attics.

• Leave a cold-water faucet dripping overnight during extreme cold.

• Keep your furnace on and set to at least 55°F. Questions? Email pwdept@woodstockil.gov or call 815-338-6118.
