The Irving Parks and Recreation Department reminds residents that registration for classes and programs can be done online or in person at a local recreation center. Both prospective and current membership ID card holders must complete the following.
To register online:
a) Visit CityofIrving.org/IrvingRec to access the ActiveNet website.
b) Register for an account or sign in to an existing account. For a new membership, information is needed for head of household and each family member registering for classes.
c) Follow instructions for selecting classes for each individual. Classes will be added to the shopping cart.
d) Complete transaction and make payment online using a credit card.
e) To complete the ID card process, visit a neighborhood recreation center to have a photo taken. Card can be printed at that location.
Irving offers residents athletics opportunities for all ages through the Irving All Sports Association, which use the various athletic venues throughout Irving. The Irving All Sports Association is a nonprofit organization that coordinates various local athletic groups. Visit CityofIrving.org/Athletics to register for sport leagues. Select the specific sport under Youth or Adult leagues.

Welcome to Mustang Speedway! Children ages 3-9 are invited to bring their personal Power Wheel and compete in a friendly race! The competition will be divided into two age classes ages, 3 to 6 years and 7 to 9 years, competing separately. After the race, take a picture in the “Winner’s Circle” to celebrate!
Registered Power Wheels must be original stock vehicles with no modifications, and drivers must wear a minimum of a bicycle helmet and tennis shoes or boots. Only 6V-12V class Power Wheels allowed. Registration is required.

Middle school students are invited for an afternoon of swimming, food and fun at the indoor pool at Heritage Aquatic Center. This pool party will feature an egg hunt in the pool with loads of special goodies and prizes, including toys, chocolate bunnies and tickets to area attractions.

Over 1300 LED lights will illuminate the mini-golf course at Twin Wells. Tee times are available every 10 mins from 6 to 8pm. Youth under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. You may register for tee times online or in-person at any Irving recreation center.

Training Cost: $125
Become a certified lifeguard. Irving Parks and Recreation hires Red Cross certified lifeguards, ages 16 and older for part- and full-time summer and year-round positions at its aquatic facilities. Successful completion of the course will result in American Red Cross Lifeguard/First Aid, CPR-Professional Rescuer and AED certifications.
Course Prerequisites: Must complete a swim test one week prior to class start or must have instructor approval. Swim 300 yards. Retrieve a 10-pound brick from a 7- to 10-foot depth, followed by a 20-yard return carrying the brick. Tread water for two minutes, no hands.

Each January the Irving Parks and Recreation Department holds a special event to recognize and appreciate the life and achievements of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This annual observance features a variety of music and dance performances.
This year, the City of Irving will host an essay contest promoting the theme “Rise to the Level of Love.” There will be three age categories: grades 3-5, 6-8 and 9-12. Judging will be based on clarity, grammar and how well the theme is developed depending on the age of the writer. Deadline for entry is Jan. 5.
