Swimming Lessons Swimming Lessons

Enrolling in the Appropriate Class Choosing the appropriate swimming class for you or a young child depends upon skill mastery and instructor recommendation. Class levels build on skills learned in previous sessions. So, it is common for participants to repeat a level several times before mastering all required skills to move forward to the next level. Check the completion certificate at the end of the session, it will indicate the next class level for the participant. You may also consult with the instructor before enrolling in the next session. If a child is at least five years old and this is the child’s first time taking lessons, or the first time the in the IGH program, we recommend attending a free swimming level assessment.

Program Policies • Classes are a 1:6 or 1:7 ratio. Classes with less than the required min. enrollment of participantss may be canceled one week prior to start date. • Make-up classes will not be available for participants whom miss a class. Fees will not be pro-rated or refunded. • Children who are not toilet-trained must wear a cloth diaper with plastic pants, a swim diaper or disposable diaper (Disposable diapers are available for sale at guest services). • Pool temperature in the Lap Pool is 84 degrees March-July and is 81 degrees August-February.

Registration Deadline The deadline to register is seven days before the course begins. We accept swimming lesson registrations up until the deadline or when class size reaches the max. number of participants. Classes are a 1:6 or 1:7 ratio. Classes that do not have the min. number of participants registered a week before the start of the session may be canceled.

Wait Lists If you are interested in registering for a class that has reached max. enrollment, you may place your name on a wait list. An additional class may be added in order to accommodate the waiting list. You will be contacted if we can accommodate you or your child.

Learn to Skate Lessons

Learn to Skate Lessons Welcome to Skate School Our learn to skate program is committed to fostering the development of every skater. We provide a variety of programs which teach the fundamentals of skating to all ages (even adults!) and every level from beginner to freestyle and hockey. Our program is a member of Learn to Skate USA and the Ice Skating Industry, which means you will receive accredited training and can be confident in the skills you will develop and strengthen through our program!

Class Descriptions The following is a general guideline to help register your child for the appropriate class. Participants at all levels will be evaluated the first day of lessons and may move up or down a level depending on the skill level at any time during the session. • Classes use the Ice Skating Industry (ISI) skill level system and the USFS Program under Learn to Skate USA. • All classes are progressive and students must have passed the previous level in order to advance. • All classes will be taught in a safe and positive environment, making class time an enjoyable and fun experience for all.

Tot 1-4 (Snowplow Sam) (Ages 3-6): The Snowplow Sam levels are introductory classes divided into four progressive levels (Tot 1-4) allowing children with no prior skating experience to build confidence while learning the basic skills of skating. These classes are designed to help children develop the ABCs of movement – Agility, Balance, Coordination and speed.

Beginner 7 & Up: Ages 7 and up with no prior skating experience.

Freestyle 1-10 (Freeskate 1-6): Each free skate level is comprised of a variety of progressive skating skills, transitions, spins and jumps — all of which build on the previous skill, providing skaters a strong foundation of all elements. Participants will also work on strength, flexibility and core training in a Yoga/Ballet off-ice session prior to class time.

Specialty Classes for Hockey Players Helmets, shin and elbow pads required for all hockey classes. Sticks and pucks will not be used.

Beginning Hockey (Mini-mite) (Ages 4 and older): Must have passed Tot 4 to register. Basic skills are taught on the ice without a stick. Focus is on power skating, speed and edge control. Skills will be evaluated and could possibly move to Tot classes if determined necessary.

Advanced Hockey (Mite - Hockey 4) (Ages 5 and older): Must have completed two years of mini-mite hockey. Advanced skills are taught including: Advanced stride, crossovers on a circle, backward one-foot glides, hockey stops, intro to three-turns and mohawks.

Pre-Alpha (Basic 2): Must be able to skate comfortably forward unassisted or have passed Tot 4. Will learn forward one-foot glides, backward two-foot glide, rocking horse backward swizzles and two-foot turns.

Alpha (Basic 3): Will learn beginning forward stroking, foward half swizzle, moving forward to backward two-foot turns on a circle, beginning backward one-foot glides, backward snowplow stop, forward slalom.

Beta (Basic 4):

Join the Fun....
