Dear Parks & Recreation Supporters, We are fortunate as a community to have a park system that has served generations of families and one that continues to improve facilities and activities. Our department is proud to serve as stewards of this great system and we are excited about recent projects that have been a benefit our community and future projects that will be a great addition to our system. • Barnett Field Splash Pad • Hafer Park Playground • Spring Creek Trail • Edmond Tennis Center • Sports Field Renovations • Kickingbird Golf Club All of this work will allow us to expand programming and offer more activities for you and your family. I encourage you to try some of the new activities, visit the parks and attend our special events. Our goal is to provide a premier parks and recreation system. If we are falling short of that please do not hesitate to contact me. Thank you for your participation!

NOT ME! (Defensive Safety Program for Young Ladies /Teens/ Women) Together we can stand and say, “NOT ME, NOT NOW, NOT TODAY! The “NOT ME! Defensive Safety Program,” is designed to make you more aware, prepared and ready for any situation that may occur on any given day. Most selfdefense classes start from the point of attack. This program differs, as I believe an attack actually begins before it becomes physical. The goal is to teach you how to recognize a threat, avoid the attack altogether and if avoidance is unobtainable, how to survive. You will learn more than self-defense and more than safety. The courses in this program are designed to be simple and non-technical. Many young ladies / women feel intimidated in taking such a course. The courses are engaging and enjoyable, not intimidating. I want you to feel welcome, safe and at ease. You will complete these courses being more confident, emboldened, and mentally stronger, feeling more in control of your own personal safety. The NOT ME! Program has three components (age specific classes) Young Ladies Awareness & Defense Training Class “I am important and NO ONE gets to hurt me!” One out of every 6 American women have been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime (14.8% completed, 2.8% attempted). Instead of telling your daughters what to do, they will learn by doing. Training is taught through classroom work, demonstration and practical application. The class is geared for Young Ladies ages 8 to 12. Ages: 8-12

You will complete these courses being more confident, emboldened, and

mentally stronger, feeling more in control of your own personal safety. Young Ladies Awareness & Defense Training Class “I am important and NO ONE gets to hurt me!” One out of every 6 American women have been the victim of an attempted or completed rape in their lifetime (14.8% completed, 2.8% attempted). Instead of telling your daughters what to do, they will learn by doing. Training is taught through classroom work, demonstration and practical application. The class is geared for Young Ladies ages 8 to 12. Ages: 8-12
