From the Director there’s snow day like a parks & rec day! We take pleasure in presenting to you this edition of Edmond’s Parks and Recreation Classes & Events Guide. You will find it a ready resource for planning some fun during Oklahoma’s winter months. Beginning in late November, Edmond will be co-sponsoring a new attraction at the Festival Market Place. Look for the opening of the Edmond Outdoor Ice Rink hosting skaters through the 3rd of January. All ages will enjoy the “snow” at the MAC during the North Pole Holiday Adventure in December. Kids will need to call on their creative and detective skills in January for the Finding Frosty the Snowman art contest and the Recreation staff has planned a “tea party” for Daddys and Daughters in February. Our Senior Center programmers have reserved a cozy spot and comfortable chair right by the fireplace to enjoy a good book or just soak up the warmth. Christmas Brunch at the Senior Center will be in early December with a timely visit from Santa. Autumn Leaves are off the hardwoods at Arcadia Lake, yet for those who would brave winter winds, the lake’s miles of trails offer a solitude not found in summer. Keep KickingBird Golf Club and Tennis Center in mind on milder days, and you have a busy, active season ahead. Parks and Recreation staff will be attending the National Recreation and Parks Conference this year. Attended by Parks and Recreation professionals from across the USA, we hope to bring home some new and exciting ideas for recreational programs in Edmond. Activities abound within the pages of this guide. I hope you will take time to enjoy one or more of the programs or parks available to you and family.

Parks & Recreation Policies THERE’S SNOW DAY LIKE A PARKS & REC DAY!

Refund & Cancellation Policy •

A refund will only be issued if a class is cancelled by the department or the student withdraws at least 3 days prior to the start date of the class, less a $5 processing fee per class on all Programs of $10 or more.

Students who withdraw from a class less than 72 hours prior to the start date of the class will receive a recreation Program credit which may be applied to future recreation Programs, less a $5 processing fee per class. In general, no refunds or credits will be issued from the start date of a class.

Students who are dissatisfied with a Program for any reason must complete a Program survey in order for improvement of Programs to be made.

Credits and refunds will be evaluated on a case by case basis by the Recreation Program Coordinator.

Credits expire one year from the date issued.

The above policy applies only to our fee –based recreation Programs and not to: KickingBird Tennis, Pelican Bay Aquatic Center, KickingBird Golf Club, Farmers Market, MAC or pavilion rentals, special events, or Arcadia Lake. Program Tardiness Policy

Instructors Wanted!

Programs will start promptly; we do not wait for late arrivals. If an instructor shows up for their class and no students are present, they are only required to wait 20 minutes before leaving. No refunds or credits issued once the class has started. Last Minute Cancellation Policy

If you have knowledge and talent to share with others and are comfortable teaching, we can provide you with an opportunity. It only takes one day/evening a month, minimum, depending on the class!

Our instructors are dedicated to fulfilling each class they teach. However, they are also human and have emergencies that arise in their day-to-day lives. Should a last minute cancellation arise, we have developed the following policies. Once Edmond Parks & Recreation receives notification from an instructor they will not be able to make a class, all registered participants will be contacted via the contact information listed on the participant’s account.

QUESTIONS

For all one –time classes

Call the Parks and Recreation office at 359–4360 or email melissa.meyers@edmondok.com.

The instructor will be required to schedule a make-up class on a day and time similar to the regularly scheduled time. If that is not possible, we will work with both the instructor and registered participants to come up with a “majority rules” day and time. For all series and repetitive classes

Follow us on

Due to availability constraints, many times it is not feasible to have a make-up class. Should an instructor have a last minute cancellation, all participants will receive a gift certificate/credit voucher for the value of the day the class is cancelled. Example: If a class for $60 meets twice a week for four weeks, totaling eight classes, each registered participant will receive a gift certificate/ credit voucher for $7.50 to be used on a future Edmond Parks and Recreation class.
