The City of Coquitlam is proud to have competed in the Communities in Bloom competition for the past four years. Communities in Bloom is a Canadian non-profit organization committed to fostering community pride, environmental responsibility and beautification. It uses friendly competition between communities to bring together local businesses, service clubs, residents and civic government to focus on enhancing their community. 2018 1st Place Class of Champions

 Smoking is prohibited in all City of Coquitlam parks. This includes cigarettes, cannabis and vaping.

 Incorrect disposal of cigarette butts is one of the leading causes of fires in parks, forests and dry grass.

 The fine for smoking in a Coquitlam park increases from $150 to $500 in the summer due to heightened fire risk.

• Help keep Coquitlam tidy and litter-free.

 Coquitlam Fire/Rescue and Bylaw Officers will be stepping up park patrols this summer.  All residents should be alert to signs of fire in our parks and report smoke or fire by calling 911 immediately.

• Help beautify the places where you live, work or spend time—consider planting a garden, tidying up the property and improving street appeal. • Protect our pollinators! Consider making your own pollinator garden. • Join a Bad Seed weed pull and learn how to stop the introduction and spread of invasive plants that can be harmful to people, animals and ecosystems.
