CAMPBELL PROFILE
A Message From The City Manager Dear Campbell Residents, It is with great pleasure that I return to you with our “Campbell Profile”. As you may recall, this column is an opportunity to provide you with important updates on new City of Campbell projects and programs. The past two years have been challenging as we worked our way through a global pandemic. At the City of Campbell, the City Council, senior leadership, and our staff worked tirelessly to maintain services and programs for the community. We also focused on taking all steps necessary to protect the health and welfare of our employees and customers, including minimizing close contact between people and enhancing our cleaning and disinfecting practices to ensure we maintained a sanitary work environment for everyone. Today, I’m happy to report that with the steps we took to prevent the spread of the virus, the recent decline in COVID-19 positive cases, and the new guidance from our Santa Clara County Health Official, on February 22, 2022, we were able to officially re-open our doors to the public for business. While we continue to encourage you to consider using our website at www.campbellca.gov for fast and reliable service, staff is also available at our front counters to assist you with scheduling appointments to apply for business licenses and planning and building permits, scheduling inspections, and registering complaints with Code Enforcement. You may also recall that during the November 2018 General Election, the voters of the City of Campbell approved Measure O. This measure will fund new facilities for our Police Department as well as significant updates to our City of Campbell Library. Though the impacts of the pandemic had us moving a bit slower than we would have liked, it did not stop our forward movement on either of these projects. As a result, both are well under way with the design of each at 65% completion. Requests for Proposals to construct each project are anticipated to be posted in the summer of 2022 and construction is anticipated to begin in the fall of 2022. For those interested in receiving continued updates on either project, we invite you to attend our City Council meetings where we will periodically provide updates on both projects to the City Council. Project updates, instructions for how to participate in City Council meetings, a schedule for these meetings, and the agenda for each meeting can be found on our website at www.campbellca.gov. Sincerely, Brian Loventhal City Manager

SWIM LESSONS
Choosing the appropriate level... Children should be registered for a level based on their age and ability. Please read the descriptions of skills in each level. Typically, children repeat a level two or three times before mastering skills and moving on to the next. Register for lessons by the week or Saturday sessions. Make-up sessions are not available.

Arm strokes and safety skills will also be taught.
Advanced Beginner (7-14 YRS) Class ratio 1:8 Students must be able to complete one lap unassisted freestyle and one lap unassisted backstroke to enroll in this class. Emphasizes stroke refinement. Using a variety of drills, students will learn freestyle stroke with side breathing, backstroke with straight arm recovery, treading water using various kicks for two minutes, standing and surface in-water dives, streamlined gliding, and breaststroke kick with a kickboard. Instructor: Aquatics Staff
Beginner (6-14 YRS) Class ratio 1:4 Students will be introduced to basic swim strokes, floating, and how to properly enter the pool safely. Stroke development will also be emphasized. Students will learn to kick the width of the pool with a kickboard, float, and recover front to back, begin freestyle stroke with side breathing, tread water for two minutes, and kneeling/standing dives.
