Book 39, Pg. –26Minutes of the Alabaster City Council Meeting Alabaster, Alabama June 2, 2011 A regular meeting of the Alabaster City Council was held in the Municipal Annex on Thursday, June 2, 2011, at 7:00 P.M., and there were present at said meeting Councilpersons: Present: Sophie Martin, Adam Moseley, Rick Walters, Scott Brakefield, Tommy Ryals and Jim McClain.

Absent: Bob Hicks.

MEETING OPENING The meeting was opened with prayer followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.

Council Member Moseley made a motion to approve the minutes of the May 19, 2011 meeting as read. Council Member Brakefield seconded the motion. Voting – Ayes: Sophie Martin, Rick Walters, Scott Brakefield and Adam Moseley. Nays: None. Tommy Ryals and Jim McClain both abstained due to their absence from the meeting. Motion carried.

Council Member Moseley made a motion to approve the agenda for tonight’s meeting as presented. Council Member Walters seconded the motion. Voting – Ayes: All Ayes.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

MAYORS COMMENTS Mayor Frings appointed Calvin Rumph, 202 Grande View Circle, to fill the position previously held by Larry Burdette on the Planning and Zoning Board. Mr. Rumph will serve a six year term expiring June 2017.

COUNCIL COMMENTS Council Member Brakefield gave the Fire Department Report for the month of May 2011.

Council Member Ryals gave the Building Safety Department Report for the month of May 2011.

1. SET A PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 09003 AND ADOPT THE 2011 NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE. Council Member Ryals made a motion to set said public hearing on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. with Council Member Martin seconding. Voting – Ayes: All Ayes.

Nays: None. Motion carried.

2. SET A PUBLIC HEARING ON AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND ORDINANCE NO. 08006 REGARDING THE COUNCIL RULES OF PROCEDURE, COUNCIL MEETING DAYS. Council Member Walters made a motion to set said public hearing on Thursday, June 16, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. with Council Member Brakefield seconding. Voting – Ayes: All Ayes. Nays: None. Motion carried.

ALABASTER CITY COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES, 06/02/11, Book 39, Page –273. COUNCIL WORK SESSION. Council President McClain announced that a council work session is scheduled to be held on Monday, June 6, 2011 at 7:00 P.M. in the conference room at the Senior Activity Center, 1097 7th Street SW.

After brief council and audience comments, Council Member Walters made a motion to adjourn with Council Member Martin seconding. All were in favor and said meeting was adjourned at 7:20 P.M.
