Timeless and elegant appeal of tableware By Jess Bauer WHITE tableware, floral designs, sophisticated baroque and innovative shapes are the current trends making an impact on Australian dinner tables, says MaryAnne Fesq, from Villeroy & Boch Australia. She says the white tableware remains popular because of its elegance and versatility. The style can be mixed and matched with coloured napery, glassware and table accessories, while also being versatile enough to be layered with patterned pieces or glass. With intricate detailing, the floral and botanical pieces are becoming the next big thing, she says. Unusual shapes and contours are also adding sophistication and further depth to dinner tables. Table wear collections are offering new shapes and sizes for further flexibility. “Table wear needs to promise durability and longevity so as to withstand the wear and tear of everyday use. However, perhaps more importantly from the point of view of aesthetics, table wear is a way for people to express their style and personality to those around them,” says MaryAnne. She also recommends learning what makes a quality product when choosing new dinnerware, “choosing a set made from quality materials, such as premium porcelain, assures superior strength and lasting colours”. “Living with Deborah Hutton” 16-piece dinner set, $99.95 from Ezibuy.
