New Academic Year We started our new academic year on Monday 9th June. All students began their new timetables and Year 7 moved into Year 8 and joined their new forms. There were very few issues to resolve around the new timetable and those that have arisen have been quickly resolved. This means all students have a flying start for September. Inset Day – Thurs 26th June A reminder that our next CAN Inset day is on Thursday 26th June so the school will be closed to students on this day.
Last Day of Summer Term – Revised Date We have reviewed the last day of term to be Wednesday 23rd July instead of Thursday 24th July as previously advertised. This is to bring the end of term in line with the Norfolk County Council calendar. Students will have received the statutory number of teaching days on this date. Year 6’s Joining CAN & Year 5 Enrichment We are delighted to report that we have 180 students from Year 6 joining us for their transition days on 7th and 8th July and they will then begin with us as Year 7s on 9th July. We look forward to welcoming them. We have also had students from Avenue Junior School, Colman Junior School, West Earlham Junior School, and Henderson Green Primary School coming in to CAN to follow a Year 7 timetable for a day as part of our Year 5 curriculum enrichment programme for local schools. We are receiving excellent feedback from the youngers and schools involved. St Michael’s Junior School, Bignold Primary School, Cavell Primary School and Norwich Primary Academy are due to visit over the coming weeks. Approximately 400 Year 5 students in total will have been into CAN as part of this project. Well done to the Year 7 team. We are expecting to be over-subscribed again in 2015. Please make sure you, your friends and relatives secure places in the Autumn Term if their child is transferring next year. Sports Day The CAN Sports Day takes place on Tuesday 15th July at the UEA SportsPark. Please can you ensure that students have adequate water, a sunhat and suncream for the event. Many thanks.
Biometrics Letter You will have recently received a letter about biometric permissions for your child. It is vital that we receive this form back completed and signed so your child can continue to access the catering, library and printing/photocopying facilities. It is a legal requirement to gain annual consent for this so please return this to the Main Office asap. Facial Piercings & Uniform A reminder that it is part of our student uniform policy that “no facial piercings of any kind or retainers (including tongue piercings)” are permitted in the Academy. Thank you for your support with this. CAN students are renowned for their smart appearance. The summer uniform has seen a lot of girls wearing inappropriate length skirts for school. Please ensure skirts are worn at knee length as stated in the planner. Thank you in anticipation of your support on both these issues.
