From 19th April to 30th September 2014 In July, 1944 Cherbourg became the biggest harbour in the world! For the 70th anniversary of the World War II Battle of Normandy, La Cité de la Mer will be exhibiting striking images showing the role played by the port of Cherbourg during the liberation of France by the Allied Forces.

Extremely large format photos and contemporary films will help the public to understand fully the importance of the role played by the port of Cherbourg in the logistics of the liberation of France.
RESOURCES FOR TEACHERS A wide variety of teaching materials: English and bilingual quizzes for pupils and educational themed itineraries for teachers. Available to download for free from La Cite de la Mer website.
Opening times in 2014
• Tourism and disability label. • Elevators to the 3 floors of the site. • Hearing loops throughout the visit. • Full access to disabled people except for the submarine wherein a special welcoming room has been set up. • For safety reasons, children under 5 years are not permitted to visit the submarine. • When there is a ship stopover, the Emigration area is closed to the public but the Titanic exhibition remains open. • Free parking.
Groups welcome throughout the year from 10am to 6pm (pre-book). In July and August: 9.30am to 7pm. Closed from January 6th to 31st 2014.

Complimentary tickets • The driver is given free entrance. • 1 FREE supervisory adult for 8 paying pupils (5-17 years) 14,50 € per extra accompanying adult.
