“Painting to me consists, above all, of an intense act of viewing and displaying which explores the tension between the visible and the unseen. My main theme is the exploration of environments like cafés, bars, public libraries, museums etc. - places we enter only temporarily but where nevertheless we try to feel at home for a while. Recreating them by painting means to discover the special magic of those places.”
