For over 88 years, the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach, Inc. has played a vital role in shaping our community through our mission. The JLNVB provides its almost 400 volunteers with many opportunities to enhance their professional and personal skills while working together to make a positive impact on their communities through service. These skills developed by women, combined with their personal commitment and talents, continue to make a difference throughout the community. Our members apply the skills they’ve learned in the League to leadership positions in nonprofit organizations and businesses throughout the region. Just look around; many of the great women leaders in Hampton Roads can be traced to the Junior League of Norfolk-Virginia Beach! While writing this article, it forced me to truly absorb and understand all that we have accomplished. I’m proud of the achievements made by our organization during the 2012-2013 year and know JLNVB is positioned to continue to thrive under the leadership of the 2013-2014 Board of Directors. It is such an honor to grow and develop with our membership this year and to be a part of our 88-year legacy.
