T

he 27th World of WearableArt™ Awards Show, known as WOW®, kicks off on Thursday 24th September for its annual Show Season in Wellington New Zealand.

WOW is New Zealand’s largest arts show and each year a new theatrical world is created in which incredible garments are bought to life. This year 55,000 show goers will attend from around the world. WOW® is a breathtaking spectacular of dance, theatre, music, and art. The garments you see on stage are the award-contending designs selected from worldwide entries in the annual WOW Awards competition, which puts the simple, but challenging brief to designers - to take “art off the wall and adorn onto the human form”. Designers come from all occupations, from all over the world. WOW® gives designers the opportunity to be innovative, original and not bound by the constraints of commercialism. The only limit is their imagination. WOW® is best described as a glorious rebellion against the mundane, a choreographed collision where fantasy meets reality and dreams merge with nightmares. For the audience, it is a sensory saturation, with the bodies on stage forming a moving canvas in a seamless, fluid exhibition that is enhanced by soundscapes, lighting, dance, drama, and comedy. oday adidas launches its ‘Uncontrol Yourself ’ campaign about the new Spring/Summer 2015 climachill product range. Featuring international athletes like football star Gareth Bale and tennis ace Simon Halep, basketball player Jeremy Lin and track & field running star Octavious Freeman, the campaign will include ATL, BTL, digital and PR activations across the globe.

Realizing that when it comes to performance, every degree matters, the new Climachill product range makes sure athletes can perform at their best regardless of heat, through new age design and material selection for maximum cooling. The revolution truly continues – in black. The campaign presents the evolution of Climachill (from 2014) with the new and valiant black training shirt; which is not only sleek in design and aesthetics, but also at the forefront of active-cooling technology within the sporting goods industry. Thanks to its cutting edge instant cool sensation, advance breathability and supreme heat and moisture transfer capabilities, the shirt keeps body temperatures under control even in the hottest conditions. Enabling athletes of all levels to train harder, run longer and stay focused, enhancing athletic performance whether in training or in the intensity of competition. The adidas Climachill line has been revolutionary in active cooling technology due to its uniquely engineered design profile: industry-first 3D aluminum-cooling spheres are strategically located on the back and neck to correspond with the warmest area of the body, and provide instant cooling sensation on contact. A micro fiber fabric allows the garment to act like mesh and transports excess moisture away from your skin. The revolutionary SubZero flat yarn contains titanium and maximizes surface contact with skin, transferring more heat away from the body. Real Madrid FC, Champions League winning footballer Gareth Bale commented on the new member of the climachill range: ‘Moving from England to Spain has been an exciting journey from all aspects: different country, culture, language, an amazing club and of course weather. I keep my performance at a high level by working hard every day and push myself to the limits. By having athletes’ needs always in mind, adidas leads in innovating sports technologies: its cooling technology helps me by regulating my body temperature and releases excess moisture from my body, which enables me perform. For me it’s massively important to have both style and performance in one product. The new black (mélange) training t-shirt is the perfect example for sports apparel that looks cool and keeps you cool.’ Simona Halep, #3 WTA Ranked tennis player also welcomed the new member of the Climachill range: ‘Playing in extreme conditions can be challenging both mentally and physically. I need to wear sportswear that helps me to concentrate better during practices and major tournaments. Especially, in tournaments like Melbourne or Miami I For Immediate Release need an outfit that keeps my body temperature under control. The new black t-shirt is an essential must-have in any women’s sports wardrobe – just like the little black dress for any casual nights out. It flatters my body shape and looks great on-and off-court.’

As lights turned on with blinding intensity, each row of models progressed forward, lending the audience a full view of the clothes. Guests including Beyoncé, Jay-Z, Kim Kardashian West, Rihanna, Drake, Justin Bieber, P. Diddy, Kris Jenner, Kendall Jenner, Khloe Kardashian, George Condo, Anna Wintour, Spike Jonze, Russell Simmons, Big Sean, Pete Wentz, Pusha T, A$AP Ferg, Steven Klein, 2Chainz, Cassie, Alexander Wang, Kehinde Wiley, Tom Sachs, Gia Coppola, Travis Scott, A-Trak, Jeanne Greenberg Rohatyn, Hailey Baldwin, and adidas athletes John Wall and Von Miller. “Wolves” an unreleased track from West’s forthcoming studio album embodied the pinnacle of this epic performance.” With this collection, West’s goal is to absolve consumers of dressing’s daily stress by creating a line of high-quality essentials that can be freely combined in infinite ways—”like Legos,” he says. For the designer this means stripped-down, comfortable, and unpretentious clothes for a “modern jet-set couple,” pieces to be worn from the gym to the office to a meeting to the airport and everywhere in between. “I wanted something that felt like New York or Paris or Tokyo or Santa Barbara or Chicago—a worldliness and an ease.”
