Conner Academic Team second in Governor’s Cup Conner High School would like to congratulate all members of their academic team for placing second overall in the district Governor’s Cup Competition. Other schools included: Boone, Cooper, St. Henry and Ryle. The following students placed in their individual events and are moving on to regionals next month: » Kyle Addison: fourth in math, second in composition » Norman Chan: third in science » Eli Graft: first in social studies, second in language arts » Libby Warth: fourth in social studies » Kaitlyn Gieske: third in language arts » Libby Jones: fifth in language arts, second in arts and humanities » Anna Impellitteri: fourth in arts and humanities, third in composition » Olivia North: fifth in arts and humanities, fifth in composition
The quick recall team including Bryan Padilla and Bryce Wade placed second overall, as did the future problem solving team of Katie Wells, Morgan Baumann, Nick Pack and Payton Lighthall. Both of these teams will be competing at regionals. Regional competition is next month wherein, Conner will compete against other Region 8 teams which include: Boone County High School, Carroll County High School, Gallatin County High School, Grant County High School, Henry County High School, Martha Layne Collins High School, North Oldham High School, Oldham County High School, Owen County High School, Randall K. Cooper High School, Ryle High School, Shelby County High School, South Oldham High School, St. Henry District High School, Trimble County High School, Walton Verona High School and Williamstown High School. Frye, Moore named to president’s list Shelby Frye, of Hebron, and Sarah Moore, of Union, were named to president’s list at Miami University during the 2016 fall semester. Frye is earning a bachelor of arts, majoring in university studies. Moore is earning a bachelor of arts, majoring in psychology. Students who are ranked in the top three percent of undergraduate students within each division for the 2016 fall semester were named to the president’s list.

Boone residents on president’s, dean’s lists Three Boone County residents earned president’s and dean’s list honors at Freed Hardeman University in Henderson, Tennessee, for the 2016 fall semester. Wayne Baker, a sophomore biology and environmental science major from Burlington, and Summer Turner, a senior psychology major from Hebron, earned president’s list honors. Several Boone County residents were named to the dean’s list for the fall term at Centre College, an honor reserved for students who maintain at least a 3.6 GPA. Honored students include Emily McGlone, Paige Kellam, and Sadhvika Reddy. McGlone is the daughter of Sandra Derringer and Gregory McGlone, both of Florence, and a graduate of Ryle High School. Kellam is the daughter of Rodney Kellam and the late Trish Kellam of Hebron and a graduate of Notre Dame Academy. Reddy is the daughter of Dee Reddy and Ray Reddy of Union and a graduate of Ryle High School.
