MND students commit to play at next level A dozen student athletes from Mount Notre Dame recently committed to playing sports at the collegiate level. » Christine Chandler will study at University of Cincinnati next year and continue to play volleyball. She has maintained honors with a 4.71 weighted GPA. She is captain of the volleyball team and is an MND Ambassador. Christine was honored as the Most Valuable Player for the 2013 volleyball season, as well as being named First-Team AllGGCL, and First-Team AllOhio. She was part of the 2013 Division I state volleyball championship team. Christine is daughter of Douglas and Nancy Chandler of Milford. » Amy Dean will continue to play soccer next year at the University of Akron. She has maintained honors with a 5.28 weighted GPA. She is an officer in the Adopt A Sis Club, and is a member of National Honor Society, Social Studies Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, Relay for Life, Corryville Catholic Tutoring and student government. The annual Archbishop Moeller High School Sports Stag will be Thursday, Feb. 20, in Moeller’s Brisben Center (gymnasium). This year Moeller celebrates its success in basketball and features Clark Kellogg as its guest speaker. Kellogg is a TV color analyst and receives national notoriety for his work on college basketball telecasts. As an athlete, Kellogg was a former first-round draft pick of the Pacers (1982, eighth selection overall) and played five seasons with the team. He was also a unanimous selection to the 1983 NBA All-Rookie Team. The pre-stag evening festivities begin at 5:30 p.m., and the program begins at 8 p.m. Individual tickets for the event are $85, which includes pre-stag festivities, dinner, and cocktails. Group reserved seating is also available. The deadline for advanced sales is Thursday, Feb. 17. Limited seating is available. The 15th Annual Madeira Mustang Sports Stag will be Thursday, Feb. 6, at the St. Gertude Parish Center. Social hour begins at 5:30 p.m. with dinner to follow at 7 p.m. The guest speaker will be Chris Welsh, former Cincinnati Reds pitcher and current Reds broadcaster.
