impulse to build and create.” “The more digital we become the more important it is that we have things that ground us and bring us back outside,” said Clark. Shellhause’s paintings and drawings are related to science and help reveal the “aggressive quality of human systems that threaten the natural.” “Man versus nature – humans naturally build off of what we see in nature. Natural is never completely natural to humans, we are

always looking through our own perspective,” said Shellhause. The Park National Bank Art Gallery is in the Snyder building on the UC Clermont College campus in Batavia at 4200 Clermont College Drive. Gallery hours are 7:30 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 8:30 a.m. to noon Saturday; and closed Sundays. The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Success by 6 to fund child readiness programs United Way of Greater Cincinnati is distributing $636,081 to help boost kindergarten readiness and improve early childhood education regionally. The money is part of a series of grants resulting from the Winning Beginnings campaign, which aims to ensure every local child has access to best practice home visitation, high quality early education programs and, as a result, an increase in the number of children prepared for success in kindergarten. The grants will support efforts in Clermo’nt, Hamilton and Brown counties, Middletown and Covington. Clermont County Success By 6 is receiving $55,000 to improve school readiness by creating a seamless transition between early child-

hood programs and kindergarten as well as improve childhood education programs by measuring child progress using specific screening tools. The Winning Beginnings campaign runs separately from the annual United Way fundraising campaign and has raised about $10 million so far. The goal is to raise up to $30 million from private sources within five years. The private sector goal is coupled with a long-term public policy goal to attract more public resources for improving high quality childhood education. For more information about Winning Beginnings, contact Stephanie Byrd at 513-762-7144 or stephanie.byrd@uwgc.org.
