BUSINESS UPDATE Metzger Eye Care celebrating 60 years Metzger Eye Care is celebrating the 60th anniversary of its founding by Dr. Ferd J. Metzger, who opened the first optometrist office in Boone County, Kentucky in 1957 on Main Street in Florence. Dr. Julie Metzger Aubuchon bought the practice from her father in 1995. “It has been our goal for sixty years to provide exceptional eye care services including offering high quality eye wear and contact lenses,”she said. “Our practice has remained up to date with the latest technology over the years and that has continued to make us relevant to the healthcare services offered in the community”.

The practice focuses on full service eye care with patients ranging from infants to the elderly. Because the office is independent, Metzger Aubuchon feels they can provide personal care for conditions that other eye doctors do not manage, such as children’s vision and treatment of eye diseases such as dry eye and glaucoma. Metzger Eye Care has grown from two employees at the Florence location in 1957 to 20 employees over their two locations in Florence and Covington.
