Sasha was just 7 years old when she dreamed of being a ballerina. Her friends and others always made fun of her because she was so short and they told her there were no short ballerinas.

Sasha’s mom always encouraged her children to do what they dream of. She saw how passionate Sasha was about dancing ballet and becoming a ballerina. Even though money was a problem, she went out and found Sasha a great ballet program. Sasha was the happiest little girl in the world.

In a short amount of time Sasha became one of the most talented young ballerinas. She showed her true colors for dancing and proved everyone wrong. Anyone who ever doubted her wanted to attend her concerts, and she let them just so they can see she has grown into the best she can be.

As Sasha grew older, she focused her life on ballet, but she did not forget the importance of education. Her family persuaded her to audition for the Fiorella LaGuardia High School of

Arts. She was required to make up her own piece, she decided to dance to something classical instead of the normal ballet everyone else does.

Sasha was very nervous because it had been August and she still did not hear from the school. One day her mom came home and she looked upset, she asked Sasha to take a seat and that

she had news. Her face brightened up, and she told Sasha that she was accepted into Fiorello LaGuardia High School of Music and Performing Arts.

Sasha was afraid of how she would adapt to her new school. Not only was it new, but it was bigger and it was her first year in high school. On the first day she made two new friends,

Sammantha and Timothy. Unlike Sasha, Sammantha was there for singing and Timothy for hip hop and rap.

In the Spring, Sasha performed in her first ever Rising Stars show. She performed her audition piece, along with dancing with the school’s ballet team. Sasha was able to add her own unique taste to the dance. She showed her strongest points and proved to be a team member.

Besides Sasha’s ability to dance she was a straight A student. She was able to keep up with dance and pass every class with an above 80 average. Over the next two years Sasha kept up with her work and passed each quarter with honors.

Now it was time to buckle down, senior year was a breeze for Sasha since she kept up her grades and she was still dedicated to ballet. Sasha graduated Fiorello LaGuardia High School, and went to Iona College for teaching.

After graduating Iona College, Sasha taught at a local elementary school for 2 years. Sasha now teaches ballet at the Jones Center for Dance. Sasha and her mom funded the money together to build the Jones Center for Dance. While teaching ballet, Sasha dreams of having a daughter with the same ability as her.
