There the angel of the Lord appeared to him in flames of fire from within a bush. Moses saw that though the bush was on fire it did not burn up. So Moses thought, “I will go over and see this strange sight — why the bush does not burn up.” When the Lord saw that he had come over to look, God called to him from within the bush, “Moses! Moses!” And Moses said, “Here I am.” “Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.”

Just Imagine… I. The Church of the Disappearance

II. Imagine a Church… A.

…where every member is transformed into the character of Christ. Ÿ (Romans 8:29, MSG) “God knew what he was doing from the very beginning. He decided from the outset to shape the lives of those who love him along the same lines as the life of his Son. The Son stands first in the line of humanity he restored. We see the original and intended shape of our lives there in him.” Ÿ (Philippians 2:13, NLT) “For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases him.” Ÿ (Ephesians 4:21-24) “Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception. Instead, let the Spirit renew your thoughts and attitudes. Put on your new nature, created to be like God—truly righteous and holy.”

B.

…where every member leverages his/her spiritual gifts for the cause of Christ. Ÿ (1 Corinthians 12:27, NLT) “All of you together are Christ’s body, and each one of you is a separate and necessary part of it.” Ÿ (1 Peter 4:10, LB) “God has given each of you some special abilities; be sure to use them to help each other, passing on to others God’s many kinds of blessings.” Ÿ (Galatians 6:4, MSG) “Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that.”

C. …where every member loves Christ and shares of Him. Ÿ

(Matthew 28:19-20) “Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.”

Ÿ (2 Corinthians 5:18, TEV) “Christ changed us from enemies into his friends and gave us the task of making others his friends also.” Ÿ (Ezekiel 3:18) “When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them

or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood.”
