CHUNGSENG LOH

loh_cs@hotmail.com +447526745205

Khmer, Cambodian born on 20th March 1997

My work revolves around redefinition and conceptual metaphors. I seek for references to reinterpret and translate them into a playful piece of architecture with much sensitivity towards the communities and environment surrounding it. I explore and experiment new ways to create a new understanding for better design solution and to design sustainably.

The site takes advantage of the southwest wind to blow in the water vapour to humidify and cool down the workspace as the weather can be really hot and dry

co-working space interior

Service core that consists of lifts, fire escape staircases, toilets and risers on the south of the building to shield off the harsh sunlight to reduce heat gain within the building

Perforation facade to reduce glare, heat gain while allowing ventilation to flow through the workspaces

The atrium space allows users to connect visually. Environmentally, it brings in the south afternoon sun deeper into the floor plan and to create stack-ventilation effect to constantly bring in fresh air

corridor space acting as heat buffer and break out zone

Rainwater downpipe directs the rainwater to the water body next to the site for storage Cantilevering slabs to shade off harsh glare into the ground floor Full glazed ground floor to allow in as much daylight as possible and to welcome to public into the space

Bored pile foundation is used as soil in Saudi Arabia is softer, therefore, the need to drive the piles to the bedrock for structural integrity and stability

20x20 environmental strategies

southwest wind to blow the water vapour into the building space

Neighbouring block to reflect daylight into the northern part of the building

Solar panels take advantage of the bright sunlight to convert them into energy source to power the lighting thus reducing the electricty bills

Workspaces supplied with artificial lighting as the north facade has no direct daylight

workspaces with diffused daylight corridor/break out space acting as heat buffer
