6. Reflections in Stillness: Long Quan’s Water Studies
靜水映像： 龍全的水之研究 Long Quan, born in 1956 in Chongqing where the Yangtze and Jialing river meet, creates art that captures water’s essential nature. His minimalist paintings focus on water’s subtle movements and reflections, finding profound meaning in seemingly simple observations. His 2011 trip to Antarctica marked a turning point, deepening his fascination with water in all its forms. Each of Long’s paintings tells the story of a moment in time - a ripple spreading across a quiet pond, light dancing on waves, or ice crystals forming patterns. Through these works, he shows us how water, in its stillness or motion, mirrors the rhythm of life itself.
