A Love Letter from God

Sometimes it’s refreshing to get a letter from home. Read it slowly. Let it sink in. Let it refresh your spirit.

Dear Precious Child, I love you more than you can imagine. Really. I know you’ve had a lack of love in your life. I know you’ve been loved imperfectly by others. And I know you’ve been deeply hurt by imperfect love. But that’s not a reflection of my love for you. I love you perfectly. My love for you is not tainted by selfish motives. I simply love you. It’s not “I love you for . . .” It’s not “I love you when . . .” It’s not “I love you, but . . .” It’s not “I loved you until . . .”

It’s not “I will love you when . . .” It’s simply “I love you.” Don’t close yourself off to my love because of past hurts. Open your heart to me. Let me heal your pain. I know you aren’t quite sure how to receive my love, so let me tell you again. I love you! Please let me lavish my love on you. Let me give you all the love you’ve always wanted, and more. Let me fill your heart to overflowing with my love. Let me shower you with love and attention. I made you unique from anyone else, so I love you unlike anyone else. I love who you are—who I made you to be!

And I hope you will love me. More than anything, I want a relationship with you. I don’t want what you can do for me—your gifts, or your acts of service—I just want you. I want to spend time with you. I want hang out with you when you’re bored. But I wait and watch while you find other things to occupy your time and attention. I wish you would come to me. Your life will never be boring if you look to me. I want to be there when you’re lonely. No matter how alone you feel, you are never alone. Reach out to me. I’m always here. Waiting. Longing to reassure you of my love. I want to be there for you when you cry. I know your pain. I can help ease your pain, if you will let me near. Give your pain to me. I can handle it.

I want to laugh with you. I love your laugh. I enjoy the things that give you pleasure. I want to share your joy. Mostly, my dear child, I wanted to write to let you know I love you, and I miss you. I’m always here for you. Please believe me. I love you. Deeply. God P.S. Always remember that heaven is your home. I can’t wait for you to get here!
