Elevator pitch Hey we are the umano AR team

This year we have partnered with Umano

which is a fashion for good organization based in our home in Athens Georgia

Umano uses a one to one business model to fill backpacks with

art supplies for every t shirt sold artwork on the front

Each shirt is screen printed with a child s

umano is committed to using emerging technology in

new ways to tell their story

This semester we joined forces with umano to offer their audience a truer connection with the kid artists and the brand through an augmented reality experience

In this experience we give the customers an opportunity to interact with the artwork in real time via a web application also accessible on mobile devices

.

We hope this application brings customers closer to umano s

mission and ultimately brings more supplies to kids

2 PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Project Description

We created a web based application that brings the brand and the user closer together

.

By making use of augmented reality technology

we aim to

enhance the consumer experience by providing users with a unique

experience that brings children s artwork to life

Our project uses Unity and

a camera to recognize t shirt artwork and then animate it and bring it to life

.

The animations are

D renderings of the artwork that move at the

push of the button and that can be shared with others via social media platforms

6 LESSONS LEARNED When working on a team indispensable

clear effective communication is

It s important to put forth a true effort in communicating

clearly with others

but it is just as important to understand everyone

else s communication style to reach the overall communication goa

Handling ambiguity in working on emerging technology without prior knowledge

Prior to this project

We still have a lot to learn

we were completely unfamiliar with AR

but we learned a lot about initiative and

personal responsibility to explore and bring information to the table Client etiquette been a dream

Everything from drafting professional emails to responding in a timely manner

we ve all learned a lot

Being able to adapt

with an extended deadline or a deadline that came a little sooner than expected

We ve learned the importance of always being ready and

One of our biggest hurdles was communicating effectively as a team

We

are a diverse group with varying levels of technical proficiency so we had to learn to maintain an open line of communication around what can and cannot be done as well as more carefully setting expectations

We have also learned a great deal about client etiquette

This is each of our

first time working directly with a client and umano was particularly interested in staying in the loop and having periodic meetings about the status of our project throughout the semester

.

It was very important that

we practiced the best email etiquette because we managed learned to manage client expectations
