A MESSAGE FROM
OUR CHAIR
I am excited to kick off the year as the 66th chairman of the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce. Like any busy business professional, when I was asked to take on the role as Chairman of the Board, I was worried about the time commitment. After careful consideration, I realized that there was nothing to worry about. The LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce has a team of five amazing staff members and countless volunteers that help make the job easy. The saying goes, “many hands make light work” and that is so true in this organization. From our committee chairs to our ambassadors, from our board of directors to our executive committee the Chamber is blessed with strong leaders. Our volunteers represent a diverse group of business professionals who are trail blazers in their industries. Each one bringing their time, talent and expertise to support our organization. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to take the lead this year and am so grateful to have the chance to work with so many wonderful individuals. Here’s to a great 2019-2020! 1 | LAX Coastal 2019 Annual Report

KEY FINANCIAL FIGURES
Maintaining a tradition of success, the LAX Coastal Chamber of Commerce once again ended the fiscal year (July 1, 2018 - June 30, 2019) in the black with a $22,000 surplus. To constantly strive for excellence, we continue to make upgrades to our office space and technology. We maintain a strong financial position with enough dollars in our reserve account to cover four months of operating expense. This success is not possible without the support of our members. We are grateful for your continued investment. We are committed to be the strongest voice for business in our community.

N
PROGE W RAM In 2018-2019 the Chamber relaunched its Construction Infrastructure Committee with the new name and new mission—The Design Development & Construction Committee. Led by Anthony Kirby of Arup and Rashmi Menon of Parsons, the committee kicked off with a bang! The meetings have been met with such a strong attendance that we have outgrown the Chamber’s office as a venue. The DDC now meets quarterly at one of our local hotels for breakfast. These meetings include presentations from industry leaders in the field of construction, transportation and land use.

FROM THE
PRESIDENT/CEO This past year, my team and I had the opportunity to attend a training with the Western Association
“
of Chamber Executives (WACE), an organization of
non-profit leaders representing over 850 Chambers
in 19 different states. We examined best practices to hear about what great Chambers are doing to serve their communities. We learned that the WACE had
just completed a survey of businesses from across the country to see what they expected from their local
Chamber of Commerce. Here’s what they uncovered— Businesses want a “3 C” Chamber of Commerce. They expect their Chambers to be the catalyst for business

As the president of the Chamber I am proud to declare that we are a “3 C” Chamber. We are
constantly developing programs to help spur business growth and enhance the vitality of our community. We are continuing to find innovative ways to stay relevant and provide value. Our corporate leaders and area
influencers have a seat at the table in our organization and beyond. To steal a line from Queen, “We are the Champions…” The Champions of Westchester,
Playa del Rey, Playa Vista, Marina del Rey and Del
