Another phenomenal winter has come and gone but you can still see evidence of a snowy season in the couloirs and on the ridges of Lone Mountain. With 77 days of snow, and the newly released Ikon Pass, the Big Sky Resort enjoyed record numbers all season long. The real estate industry saw a similar increase in activity even with some of the lowest inventory we’ve seen in over a decade. As a result, Big Sky’s gross sales volume rose from $58,022,643 in the first quarter of 2018 to $65,133,613 in 2019. You can read more about 2019’s first quarter real estate trends on pages 5-6. Responsible growth is still the focus of our quaint mountain town with The Wilson Hotel holding its grand opening celebration on June 21st, ushering in a new era for Big Sky’s Town Center. Several new businesses will open their doors over the summer in the building adjacent to The Wilson and will include a new sushi restaurant and a clothing boutique. The Big Sky Resort has begun its remodel of the Mountain Mall (the building will be closed to the public during summer construction) which will result in many upgrades to food, seating, and ambiance; enjoy sushi and artisan flatbread while relaxing around the new indoor fireplaces! Be sure to check out their beautiful remodel this coming winter season! Peak to Sky, a new musical event curated by Pearl Jam’s Mike McCready, will rock the PBR arena stage July 5th and 6th while Moonlight Basin will hold its 2nd Annual Moonlight Musicfest on August 16th and 17th. As always, Music in the Mountains and weekly Farmer’s Markets will surely bring out the community on Wednesday and Thursday nights. Not to be outdone by the many local events, Yellowstone National Park is just an hour’s drive to the south where one can spend a day (or many) exploring geothermal features, wildlife, and the endless beauty of the Nation’s oldest national park. A calendar of local events can be found on pages 3-4. With sustained growth and an increased interest in our beautiful mountain town, we are thrilled to see the many new faces that have discovered The Last Best Place. Big Sky truly is the perfect summer destination and we will deliver more exciting news as our area continues to flourish.
