Saunders® IDV Plastic Lined Valve Upgrade •

Continuing with the Saunders® IDV product upgrade programme, we are pleased to announce the launch of our NEW PLASTIC LINED PRODUCT RANGE, addressing key customer needs in highly corrosive applications. All Saunders® plastic-lined valve bodies are now available in new base castings, coupled with a stud design. These castings are produced from brand new patterns, utilising 3D modelling software for excellent dimensional tolerances, improved weir profile in combination with the external powder coating surface finish to support corrosive environment in the chemical industry. The implementation of the stud design across the whole range, instead of the previous through bolt design, will enable easier assembly of the body, diaphragm and bonnet utilising just a single tool. This will REDUCE THE MAINTENANCE DOWN TIME UP TO 50% AND MAKE IT SAFER FOR THE OPERATOR whilst working in a range of environments. Information on ROQ and lead time is provided in the separate section. For full factory lead time items, there will be a requirement of minimum order quantity; alternatively additional set up charge will be applicable on the price list. The powder coating is electrostatically sprayed onto the degreased, clean metal valve component, which is then held at approximately 200° C for ten minutes to produce a high bake. The result is a more durable, high quality finish that resists chipping and scratching. This clean process results in negligible waste, lower emission levels and contains no solvents, making it a smart choice for the environment as well.

FAQ‘s 1. What is the new studded body design? The new stud design replaces sizes DN20-DN50 through bolt design with a fixed stud in the body. This is the same design as we have on our larger sizes (DN65 onwards)

2. Will the existing bonnets and diaphragms fit on the new bodies? Yes, the new stud design bodies will accept all the current manual bonnets assemblies as well as the diaphragms

3. Can I still get the through bolt design bodies?

4. What actuation options are available with the new design?

Yes, however, this will be limited to our current stock levels, once these stocks have been depleted they will no longer be available. After that, (Q3 2019) the new design will be fully implemented

The new stud design is completely retrofittable with the ES Modular and S360 actuator design, ensuring all industrial requirements have a solution

6. What plastic lining options do you offer?

There are many benefits as a result of this change, such as:  Safer for maintenance engineers as the new design only requires one tool to disassemble and reassemble the valve in a range of environments  Up to 50% reduction in change out time as less components are required to be assembled during the maintenance procedure  Extended diaphragm life due to the studs acting as a guiding pins, ensuring correct diaphragm centralisation on every maintenance cycle

We offer various lining options and this is based on the temperature and concentration of the process media. The material selection section outlines the types of linings we offer and their respective properties. However, ETFE lining has the highest customer demand, this is because it can handle various corrosive chemicals at high temperatures but also has good abrasion resistance compared with the other lining options

7. What is the quality control of polymer materials being used for lining? Saunders has long term agreement with reputable suppliers to ensure that genuine, virgin polymer material is repeatedly utilised. Unlike many others, we do not cross contaminate our polymers with unused material from previous batches, allowing our products to be fully traceable and held to the highest possible quality

8. What is the reason for minimum order quantity on certain items? The injection moulding process requires a minimum quantity of material to be fed into the machine, despite the number of valves due to be lined. Therefore, when small batches are produced, there is a substantial waste of material as well as significant down time due to tooling changes, resulting in an uneconomical process
