TWENTY YEARS TRANSFORMING LIVES When we opened the ďŹ rst Christel House in Mexico City in 1998, my dream was to help impoverished children break the cycle of poverty. Twenty years later, 5,154 students in India, Mexico, South Africa and the USA are now building a better future for themselves and their families. Almost 80% of our graduates are on target to achieve or have already attained, self-sufďŹ ciency. The Christel House model WORKS! I am stepping down as CEO of Christel House but will continue as its board chair. I am excited that Bart Peterson is taking the reins of our organization. New leadership will bring new ideas and new vision. The past 20 years have been a time of growth, development and remarkable achievement. There is more to come. Plans are currently underway to build our ninth learning center, Christel House Jamaica. It is an exciting time.

Gratitude is embedded in the Christel House DNA. I am grateful to all of you for the love and support you have shown our Christel House kids. Thank you!

THE CHRISTEL HOUSE MULTIPLIER EFFECT Data shows almost 80% of our graduates are on target to achieve or have already achieved self-sufficiency. When the cycle of poverty is broken for one child, subsequent generations will also benefit. If each Christel House graduate has 2 children, 4 generations later 31 people would be impacted. If 80% of our current 5,154 students achieve self-sufficiency, the lives of 127,819 individuals would be transformed.

While there is no way to ascertain with certainty the multiplier impact, this calculation demonstrates the power of permanently breaking the cycle of poverty.

WITH YOUR SUPPORT, WE'RE TRANSFORMING LIVES Children do not choose to live in poverty. Most don't grow up realizing their potential. Christel House India works to alleviate poverty by transforming the lives of children through education. We focus on academic excellence with a robust K-12 curriculum combined with a strong character development program.

The results are in and the Christel House India – Bangalore Class of 2019 recorded an outstanding 100% pass rate for the Grade 12 PUC (Pre-University Course) exams. The 100% Christel House pass rate is impressive when compared to the 61.7% pass rate of State Grade 12 test-takers. Grade 10 SSLC (Secondary School Leaving Certificate) results are also outstanding with Christel House securing a 100% pass percentage against the 73.7% State results.

We are very fortunate to have a dedicated team of teachers working at Christel House India who continue to guide and support the children. They are committed to helping them grow, learn and live up to their best potential.

Christel House works. Our students in Bangalore and Atal Nagar come from challenging backgrounds. But with care and support, they are succeeding.

CHRISTOPHER K 2011 CHRISTEL HOUSE BANGALORE GRADUATE TECHNICAL ENGINEER - HEWLETT PACKARD INC., BANGALORE Christopher's childhood was especially rough before he enrolled at Christel House. His parents who worked in a garment factory struggled to provide for the family. “We couldn't afford a decent education. The school where I studied until Grade 4 was nowhere close to the quality of Christel House education, support provided, and the efficiency of teachers.”

“Walking into my Grade 5 class I was timid and shy. Today I am more confident than I have ever been,” says Christopher. “I am very grateful to Christel House for helping me become the person I am today.”

PADMINI KASHI 2012 CHRISTEL HOUSE BANGALORE GRADUATE SUPERVISOR - JUMEIRAH GROUP OF HOTELS, DUBAI Padmini K says she applies the Christel House values of respect, responsibility, independence and integrity in every sphere of her life, at work and in her personal life.

“Of all the morals we were taught at Christel House, honesty is what defines me,” she says.

A career counselling workshop led Padmini toward a career in hospitality. She works as a Supervisor in the front office at the Jumeirah Group of Hotels in Dubai.

“Christel House has given me so many opportunities,” says Padmini.

ZAKEER HUSSAIN - 2013 CHRISTEL HOUSE BANGALORE GRADUATE SITE ENGINEER – PRESTIGE CONSTRUCTIONS, BANGALORE Zakeer grew up in an extremely small house in a slum in central Bangalore where his father worked as a tailor. Today, he is a successful Site Engineer at one of the leading property development companies in India. “My life drastically changed after I joined Christel House. Not only did Christel House provide me with the best education possible but it also took care of all my needs,” says Zakeer.

Recalling his time as a student in Christel House, Zakeer is thankful. “I am forever grateful to Christel House for all the love, care and support I received as a student and continue to receive.”

2012 CHRISTEL HOUSE BANGALORE GRADUATE AGRICULTURAL OFFICER GOVERNMENT OF KARNATAKA, BANGALORE Our first Government job holder! Rakesh is a 2012 Christel House India graduate. “Had it not been for one of my teachers at Christel House I would not have developed such a strong interest and love for agricultural science,” says Rakesh. On completing his undergraduate studies in Agricultural Science and postgraduate studies in Agricultural Economics, Rakesh is now an Agricultural Officer with the Government of Karnataka, India.

Rakesh says, Christel House helped him find new meaning to life. “I cannot imagine what I would be doing now had I not got the opportunity to attend Christel House.”

MALDREN JOYCE J 2013 CHRISTEL HOUSE BANGALORE GRADUATE KYC SPECIALIST – TRANSFERWISE – MBA STUDENT, ESTONIA Maldren remembers how until Christel House, education did not seem like a reality to her. She had been studying at a local school until she was expelled in Grade 1 because her family could not afford to pay her school fees. Maldren joined Christel House six months later in Grade 2 and became a Christel House graduate in 2013 and completed her Bachelors in Engineering.

Today, Maldren is pursuing an MBA and working as a KYC Specialist at TransferWise in Tallinn, Estonia. “I strongly believe in the Christel House motto – to care, to share and to give back to the community.

Not only do I support my family, but I also support a few kids from my community whenever they are in need. I may not be able to support them completely, but I do ensure I help in whatever way I can.”

MEXICO The first Christel House opened in Mexico City in 1998, initially sup plementing the education children received in public schools. Soon we shifted to a full-day accredited school.

In 2016, Christel House Mexico moved to a larger facility, allowing the addition of high school classes.

In 2019, Christel House Mexico’s first class of high school students will graduate.

SOUTH AFRICA In 2002, Christel House South Africa opened in Cape Town, where impoverished communities endure rampant crime and gang violence. For the past 10 years, 100% of Christel House South Africa Grade 12 students have passed graduation exams.

ACADEMY SOUTH The first Christel House in the United States, Academy South, located in Indianapolis, opened its doors as a charter school in 2002. Its graduates all receive acceptance letters to 4-year colleges.

DORS WEST In 2015, the adult high school expanded to a second location.

DORS SOUTH DORS – which stands for Dropout Recovery School – was created in 2012 to give adults a second chance to earn a high school diploma in Indianapolis.

INDIA – ATAL NAGAR Christel House expanded in India with a center in Atal Nagar (formerly Naya Raipur).

ACADEMY WEST Christel House Academy West opened as the third charter school in Indianapolis in 2014.
