For the mountains may move and the hills disappear, but even then my faithful love for you will remain. My covenant of blessing will never be broken,” says the LORD, who has mercy on you. Isaiah 54:10 (NLT)
You, Lord, are forgiving and good, abounding in love to all who call to you. Psalm 86:5 (NIV)
What’s Love Got to Do With It? The month of February brings us a unique holiday called Valentine's Day. While this whimsical holiday often is a time to celebrate romantic love, the origins of the day point to something much deeper. Numerous early Christian martyrs were named Valentine. The Valentines honored on February 14 are Valentine of Rome and Valentine of Terni. Valentine of Rome was a priest in Rome who was martyred about AD 269 and was buried on the Via Flaminia. His relics are at the Church of Saint Praxed in Rome, and at Whitefriar Street Carmelite Church in Dublin, Ireland.
Valentine of Terni became bishop of Interamna (modern Terni in central Italy) about AD 197 and is said to have been martyred during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian. He is also buried on the Via Flaminia, but in a different location than Valentine of Rome. His relics are at the Basilica of Saint Valentine in Terni. So Valentine's Day is founded on the kind of love Jesus spoke of when he said, "Greater love has no one than this; that he lay down his life for his friend." The Apostle Paul wrote of this love when he said, “Love is patient and kind, it does not envy, it does
not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects , always trusts, always perseveres. .. Now abide faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.” Romantic love is wonderful of course. It is the basis of many great songs and the inspiration for many wonderful poems. But the kind of love that give hope to the hopeless, strength to the weary, comfort to the sorrowing and life to the dying is a love that goes far beyond moonlight

JESUS LOVES YOU!
BE MY VALENTINE!
GOD IS LOVE!
Women’s Ministry Are you overwhelmed? Are you fighting the hard battles of life alone? II Chronicles 20:17 tells us “You shall not need to fight in this battle; take your positions, stand still, and see the deliverance of the Lord (Who is) with you…..Fear not nor be dismayed. Tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.” Why do we insist on trying to handle everything ourselves instead of allowing God beside us in our trials? Are you prepared to fight by God’s rules for warfare?
Cupid’s Arrival! Wow, it is almost time for Cupid to make his yearly appearance. This year why not show your love to a single mom that you know? Single moms have a lot of responsibilities and often do not have the time, energy or money to treat themselves. Perhaps a gift of bubble bath; make dinner for her and the kids; treat her to a manicure/pedicure; hire a maid service for a day; hire a babysitter and take her to lunch or a movie; plan a fun day for her and her kids. There are so many ways to make her feel like she is “queen for a day”.

Think Again I Corinthians 13 (Jesus) is patient and kind. (Jesus) is not jealous, He does not brag, and He is not proud. (Jesus) is not rude, He is not selfish, and does not get upset with others. (Jesus) does not count up wrongs that have been done. (Jesus) takes no pleasure in evil but rejoices over the truth. (Jesus) patiently accepts all things. He always trusts, always hopes, and always endures. . . . So these three things continue forever: faith, hope, and love. And the greatest of these is love. (Jesus!)
If you think God’s values and the world’s values can coexist, think again. You have to live in this world. But if you want to be God’s man, there’s a catch: You can’t be absorbed or influenced by the world. You have to stand strong as a man of God and resist the world. Men like you, who are getting serious about their walk with God, feel a deep, intuitive conflict of the soul . . . where unholy alliances with the world, which were once acceptable, must now be broken. That’s not easy. But here’s solid, trustworthy guidance for you from men who have been there, too. In Being God’s Man . . . by Resisting the World, you’ll take a look at Christ’s template of values as revealed in the Sermon on the Mount. Every man who seeks to understand and train in these values will experience a greater connection with God. So forget what you know, focus on these truths, and start living LARGE spiritually.

...Honors Valentine’s Day! Oh the depth of love! To reach it’s bottom would only prove that one does not abide in the sea of the divine, but an imitation thereof, For there is no bottom to love’s depth, There is no end to its sacrifice. T.Nixon
This month, Member’s Corner is dedicated to your Valentine’s Day messages: To the congregation of CCC: Once again recently, you have shown your great love and care as you prayed for my recovery from my fall. You are a loving and caring people and I am glad to be your pastor. So like the Apostle Paul said of the Philippians I say of you: "I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus. Philippians 1:4-6 This is my "Valentine" to each of you. Happy Valentine’s Day!—Pastor Doug We saw God's love embolden Barbara Mast as she witnessed to us before she went
home to be with the Lord. She shared of our Lord's hand in her life, giving her a passion for cancer champions. Barbara had Holy Spirit courage when she came forward to witness about the Relay for Life at one of our Sunday morning services, with beaming face, bald head, and pink armbands in hand. George showed God's love as he kept us posted about her progress, letting us know what to pray for. And now George is acting in love for his son James, as they face new challenges set before them. To the Masts . . . Happy Valentine’s Day!—Chris Salts On February 14, 1971. I met my Valentine for life, Ron. It was a blind date arranged by a mutual friend at her home. I really didn't want to go, but my Dad said I was going and he was driving me! The rest, as they say, is history. God arranged for Ron to meet my friend on a trip to the mountains. No one but God could have arranged this meeting, because it was through this meeting that my friend was able to introduce Ron to me. Thank you God. Happy Valentine’s Day!—Jeannie Griswald Love is patient, love is kind. Your love is patient and your love is kind...ALWAYS! Love you always. Happy Valentine’s Day!—Ray French (Continued on page 4)

You’re like Jesus with skin! How blessed I am that God would give me someone who is so right for me and such a great support in my life. And almost 20 years at that! You are admired, you are loved, all by those of us who know you best, especially me! Happy Valentine’s Day!—Teresa Nixon

and roses. It is the love that comes form the very source of Love. The most simple and direct statement of the nature of God in all the scriptures is found in three small words: "God is Love". And this love takes on flesh in Christ alone. This is love not that we loved God but that He loved us and gave His son as the atoning sacrifice for our sin. So, we love because he first loved us. 1 John 4 So this is my Valentine to you—"In Christ, you are loved, you are forgiven, you are free!"
Instead of offering a valentine sentiment, I want to acknowledge all of the valentines I receive every day! My Valentines are all of the people in my life that God has given to walk beside me on this earth. All of you are my Valentines ….and I love and appreciate you! Happy Valentine’s Day!—Cindy Taunton
Pastor Doug Scholten
Because of God’s presence with us here at Christ Community Church, we are able to share in His love— both for Him, and with each other. And by this we know we are His: Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born of God and knows God. . . for God is love. I John 4:7&8b Let’s celebrate a Valentine’s Day filled with His love. Be blessed demonstrating it in actions and words. And, Happy Valentine’s Day to all who make CCC their place of worship!
