FELLINI KOOLINI’S ITALIAN CUISINI is restaurateur Mike Smith’s tongue-in-cheek homage to the surreal Italian director Frederico Fellini. With its sibling restaurant, THE RUNT CLUB, next door, the twin patios make Albert Street off Richmond Row a festive destination. Both eateries recently celebrated 20 years of business. THE SCENE The Fellini Koolini’s décor is purposely overdone in sentimental Italian kitsch. The terrace (with The Runt Club Patio the distinction of being the first licenced patio built in the city) has sleek contemporary stainless steel chairs and tables. Next door, The Runt Club offers a larger patio, with a traditional pub atmosphere inspired by a “post-war Italian home.” There’s plenty of shade from mature trees, which are festooned with twinkle lights in the evening. This a very popular watering hole in the central part of the city. MENU HIGHLIGHTS This is fun, casual dining with affordable menu items that include a diverse selection of intentional highbrow/lowbrow creations: pastas, thin-crust pizza, steamed mussels, calamari, steaks, etc. Or create your own, as a Pasta Architect, and select from a wide variety of pastas, sauces, meats and vegetables. Likewise, the Pizza Architect gets to choose all their favourite ingredients. The Runt Club offers the full Fellini Koolini’s menu.

Recommended Selections: Try the Roasted Artichoke and Asiago Dip with garlic, cream cheese, spinach, scallions and bruschetta, served with crostini and pita points.
