Feedback The Current IET Homepage

“A more modern design would help immensely; the information is solid but could be reorganized.

-Student, General Survey

“…unfortunate that a brilliant organization such as IET, that has so much to offer, is not being represented well on both high/low levels within the website.” -Faculty, Usability Test

How can we improve our current website?

What do you dislike?

It doesn't seem like it's geared for students, more for faculty and staff resources

It's too cluttered

What is IET? Is it IT or IET Tools? Too many choices! I don’t use the homepage, I just call IT Express! Very busy with no focus on any specific section, except for the colorful center images No visual hierarchy, could have some icons for visual cues, looks old and outdated now

No consistency with navigation, needs to be web-connected

Homepage Navigation

Computer Security Navigation

Student/Faculty Navigation

What do you want to see?

What print rooms are open right now and how I can send a print to those rooms? Users don’t keep track of changing dept. names, needs to be standardized

Should be organized by roles or audience

Maybe have a drop down menu to place more links under

Links to other popular pages if they don't have them already

Wall of text is overwhelming, get rid of ‘UCD’ and incorporate ‘UC Davis’ brand

Synopsis of Community Preferences •

separate sections for IT and non-IT user tools

use plain language

less text and more visual aids

place overwhelming link options in navigation with dropdown menu options

consistent navigation links across all IET sites

minimalistic yet refined layout aesthetic

contact info displayed on homepage for transparency

optimize search bar results (prune outdated info/pages)
