Let your Light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.
Mathew 5 : 16
Welcome Dr. S. Justus
Dear Readers of Chordiels Magazine, Warm greetings on behalf of all at Chordiels Music. The onset of this New Year 2014 struck on us a chord of brightly shining lives that went off in the wind. When Dr. N. Emil Jebasingh went on to be with the Lord, the light in the mission fields were snuffed off, when Shri. D. Prakash was taken away from us, the light in the Church Music of Tuticorin has gone dim. However, the Great Light Himself assured that everyone of us has to radiate the Glory of Christ and be a light for this world. In this issue we have many articles focused on this theme, some songs that we used to sing about being the light, and C-Talk with Dr. Rajini and Dr. Malini, has shed light on how music and ministry can impact lives. Some picture clips from our dear friends added much color to this issue of the Magazine. Now, Chordiels Music is registered as a religious Trust in Chennai, and will be based in Chennai. Wherever we travel to sing and take the Gospel, we forget not to throw light on the greatest commandment of Jesus, “Loving God and loving each other”. Read this issue, forget not to write back to us the blessings and lessons you’ve got these days.
God Bless y’all

Being the Light by Dr. S. Justus
Two fascinating things about being the Light of the World are prompting me to write this column. When it is said, You are the light of the world, it is one's self, life, attitude, words, thoughts, deeds, actions, and many more things get involved. Being a source of light to those in the darkness means that you become as the source of energy to people around you, and to those look to you in their darkness. Becoming the source of light, and the sustenance to keep the light burning requires guidance from Above. Let us have some insight into what it is like Becoming and Sustaining the light.
Becoming His Light: When we dream of becoming something, we contemplate on the basics first, and then the next steps to reach the objective of the 'becoming that something'. Now the basics are What is Light and what is it about becoming the light? As we know, light gives us better sight to see, understand and reason out better. Light drives away darkness, and when light comes there is no room for darkness. Light brings life to everything it touches from the herbs and shrubs outside to every cell in our human body. The vitality of light is completely understood only in the darkness. On the very word light, the first thought that comes to mind is a candle or a lantern, a lamp. The lamp glows when it is lit. It can only get lit when it has the oil. The oil rises through the wig to the top and is crowned with the flame, the light that drives away the darkness. When the Master wants you to be His light, first we should have his commands and Words in our heart. His Word is the oil that should operate our lives. When the oil flows from our heart to our head (brains), and when we are ready to submit and obey ourselves, and let Him lit His light, then we will be His torch bearers. Those who look to us and seek us will find the true light. Our life and our character are chiseled and molded by His Truthful Words, and our obedience makes Him to choose us for His work, to give light to this world. So, that leads you to becoming His light
Sustaining the Light: How long can our light glow? And to How many people will be benefited? Sustaining the Light the Lord has put in us is the greatest and the toughest of all tasks. As long as the Word is in us, your life will be filled with it and that drives our character and what we are to others. Loving God and loving each other, is the prime command that Jesus gave us. This has to be the source flame that gives other the Light. We see two types of people living among us one, they who love the Lord God, and are spiritually, religiously strong, and stop not to talk about that. But forget or ignore and sometimes even condemn loving their neighbors, brothers & sisters, or even helping a poor at their door-side; the other, they those who are philanthropist they love everyone on their way, lots of societal works, but they remember not to love their Creator. We are called to love Him and the ones He created. When this becomes your life, then you are good enough to sustain your life.
Forget not that storms and floods are not needed to blow out our flames. One gentle breeze or a single drop of water is enough to snuff our light. So better be careful not to let these strange elements spoil our brightened light life. All the lit flames of a lantern are safely put inside a glass covering, so as to protect the flame from being disturbed. We have the powerful Word of God as our strong protection that will keep us from all harm. When we have His Words and teachings around us, that will protect our life and light from getting extinguished. So let us keep the fire burning until we are called Home. When we become His light, and we sustains the flame in us, it is going to give a glorious light to all who are with us and around us. Above all, the prime duty we are supposed to do is, help the people who are in the dark to get His light. When we step forward to light their lives, they are going to shine.
Let us be His light, and let us help others shine.
The LIGHT that
Shone so BRIGHT
Dr. N. Emil Jebasingh (10-Jan 1941 - 19-Dec 2013) One of the bright lights has gone down. Dr. N. Emil Jebasingh, founder & director of Vishwavani, passed away on 19th Dec 2013, at 11:30pm. He was ill for many years, yet serving the Lord, and he was suffering much in his last few days. Emil Annan, as he was dearly called, is a great missionary of our times. Resigned from Professorship, Emil Annan committed his life entirely to the missionary work in making the people of India citizens & heirs of the Kingdom of our Lord Jesus Christ. His early years were filled with visions and missions that were plugged with tears for the people who knew not the love of Jesus. He, along with a few friends founded FMPB, and the first works on reaching the mission to people were initiated. After 10 years in FMPB, Emil Annan founded Vishavawani, a committed missionary movement for serving the People of India, by the people of India, and of the people of India. He had a democracy in his missions. Not foreign funds, no flash lights, no advertisements, no glamorous meetings. Every endeavors were simple in its nature radiating Emil Annan's simplicity in all means. So many churches built, so many missionaries were sent, so many were baptized in Jesus Name, so many changes in the society. All these great things were not all claimed to be victories. Because Emil Annan considered victory is only when all the Indians have accepted Christ. He has done his part. His best part. A light that has shone among us has gone Home. His work is finished, his race is won, and he went to be with the Lord to rest. One verse from the Bible that aptly applies to Emil Annan is “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day We are sure that He has went on to be with the Lord to see the sweet face of Jesus. Dear Emil Annan will be missed forever in our midst.

The SPECTRUM of Light how one can play the role of being the light to the world effectively
In John 8:12, Jesus says I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life. If Jesus (light) is living inside one's heart, there won't be any darkness and the life on earth as well as on heaven would be lived to the fullest extent. The true follower of Christ is the light in his/her church/home/workplace. This light will have these following spectrum of seven thoughts. Have the experience of salvation One should have experienced the love of Jesus in order to share the light with others. Let us recall the below mentioned verses and ponder upon them. Rev 3: 20Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me. John 3:5 Jesus answered “Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit.” Follow His commandments diligently One should follow His commandments diligently and never stray from them. God should be first above all. They are brothers and sisters of Christ. Reference verse 1: Mat 22:37 - Jesus replied: “Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.” Reference verse 2: Matthew 12:50 For whoever does the will of my Father in heaven is my brother and sister and mother.”

Be holy as the Lord is holy Without holiness no believer can please God and cannot get God's continuous grace. Holiness is a must to feel his presence. Ref verse: Mat 5:8 - Blessed are the pure in heart for they will see God. Have the fruit of spirit One should have all the virtues mentioned in Gal 5:22 in order to win souls for God. Even if one virtue is missing, then it is incomplete, as the all these qualities seen as a single fruit of the spirit. Ref verse - Gal. 5:22 - But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law. Be a good seed One should be strong in Word of God so that it would be easy to support others when they are down because of loss/failure/not being loved/disappointment. Ref verse - Mat 13:23 - But the seed falling on good soil refers to someone who hears the word and understands it. This is the one who produces a crop, yielding a hundred, sixty or thirty times what was sown. Help the poor and needy people One should play the role of Good Samaritan as loving others and serving them is a golden rule in bible. God's everlasting mercies will surround him/her abundantly. Ref verse 1: Isiah 58 -10, 11
If you spend yourselves in behalf of the hungry and satisfy the needs of the oppressed, then your light will rise in the darkness, and your night will become like the noonday. The LORD will guide you always; he will satisfy your needs in a sun-scorched land and will strengthen your frame. You will be like a well-watered garden, like a spring whose waters never fail. Ref verse 2: Mat 25:36 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me. Spread the good news One should be the carrier of good news and spread it with fellow believers, neighbor, strangers, poor and oppressed people and colleagues. If all the above points are fulfilled, then one can surely not only be the light of the world but also can be the salt.

Hello Dr. Malini & Dr. Rajini Premlatha, Ma’am Warm greetings to you from all of us at Chordiels Music. Dr. Rajini Premlatha: Hi Justus, greetings to you too. Dr. Mailini Jeyasingh: Hello Justus, Nice to be here I was personally happy to talk to over phone the other day, hearing those voices that sung “Kangal Paneer Tharun”, “Jeeviyamey Orey Jeeviyamey”. Thanks to both of you for joining with us in this CTalk. Rajini: It was indeed a pleasant surprise, hearing from you. Mailini : Felt special when you reminded us of those days when we sang for the L.P.gramaphone record produced by our beloved brother Emil Jebasingh Tell us how you started your music life? Your initial years into singing R: Our father, a Brahmin was very talented in playing Veena, Mirdangam and Violin. He was an ardent lover of Carnatic music, and got us learning Carnatic music even before the age of 8. We had expert teachers teaching us many days in a week - the swarnas, ragas, geethams and keerthanas. My older sister Dr .Malini was more accomplished so she even sang in big “Katcheris” , temples and school competitions winning prizes everywhere. M: Oh Thanks Rajini. But when we committed our lives to the Lord Jesus in our teens as we realized that HE was the true and living God, we could not sing the songs to the Hindu deities anymore. Since my mother had always inspired us with the word of God (she being a choir singer herself with a strong soprano voice) we started using the Carnatic music knowledge to sing praise songs to our Living savior. We had many great singers and songwriters at that time DGS Dhinakaran, Mrs. Helen Satya, Mrs. Jikki, Mrs. Sarah Navaroj, Mrs. Violet Aaron. What kind of music inspired you to sing? Or who was your inspiration? R: I wouldn't say that it was one person who inspired us though Sis.Saral Navaroj did make an impact on us. M: We were invited for youth for Christ meetings in Madurai and nearby places and even collages where we gave a short testimony and then sang. Tell us about your family, your beloved people around you. Without their support you couldn't carry the Gospel Music. (Smiling). R: Coming to the family's support our mom was a huge source of encouragement. She was much excited that our talents were used for the kingdom of God M: We had the same encouragement with our husbands too. (laughing). Without their encouragement and support, we wouldn't have sung for the Lord. We thank our families too. Tell us how was your first recording with Emil Annan. He was such a big man, with a big voice, and with a real big, moving, stirring message. How you both felt as the first lines of your songs were recorded in the studios with him? R: It was thrilling to realize that God chooses the weak things to confound the strong even as our songs were recorded in that studio. Invitation from Emil annan, I think just out of the blue ,we were invited by this great man of God and was a great honour to sing in his record and glorify God. M: I was invited to sing “Kangal Paneer Tharum” with Emil Annan. That song brings the story of Christmas. And me and Dr. Raijini, my sister, sang together “Adhisayamaana Oli Maya Naadam”. It was a great composition. The lyrics are still so powerful. The last line “Inthanai Periya Bakciam Illapor, Ipboomiyil Evarum Vendam Indrey Vaareer”. That was a calling to every single soul to become the citizen of our Lord's Kingdom. We are so privileged to having sung that song. The Tamil Gospel Music knew you through the recordings of Dr. Emil Annan, while he was with FMPB and in Vishwavani. Apart from singing with Emil Annan, what are your singing endeavors? R: We also had the privilege of singing at Dr.Clifford Kumar's evangelistic crusades and meetings. We have always been invited to crusades and meetings at Madurai and nearby places, missionary conventions conducted by IEM, ICGM, CGMM, FMPB, VISHWAVANI and so on
You both are medical doctors, and you do so much good things to the society. Tell us about your career, and how you manage between music and medicine? Rajini: Regarding your question about balancing between music, medicine and family I would say that I used to keep my singing for Sundays and Dr. Malini used to devote her entire weekends (Saturday and Sunday) for her music ministry. Of course we never had time to get together and practice. Most of the time it was practicing on the phone or on the stage sometimes!! (laughing) Mailini: I am thankful that God has given me a wonder profession. I used to try and show Christ's love to patients in the Government Hospital setup wherever she worked. I think my patients would know that the Word is given along with the treatment, and they knew the difference. R: For me it was easier, being an obstetrician in a private setup. I realized my work place is the “mission field”. So I have had ample opportunities to testify of God's goodness, point patients to the redeeming grace of the Lord Jesus, pray for patients and so on. Wonderful Ma'am. Great to be His elements of blessing to others. What is your message for our readers, in the “Be the Light of the World” perception? How can we be so? R: Still I would say that to be the light of the world , our life example is more important than our words. “Preach the gospel always but use words if necessary” is what St.Agassi a great man of God said. Love is a language which can reach people of different languages ,culture and any boundaries. So when we use the language of love, we can be the light to direct people to the truth. M: That's what Mat 5:16 says “Let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works & glorify your Father which is in heaven. This is the message of the hour for every Christian. So pleased of talking with both of you Ma'am. We are so happy to learn from you a lot. If it were an audio/video C-Talk, I would like to have you both sing the song “Adhisayamana Olimaya Naadam”. R: Oh, we'll do that sometime later. M: Yea, will be glad to sing those songs again. On behalf of our readers I am so glad to meet you great singers of our time. Thank you much for your time spent for Chordiels Music R: Thank You Justus, and Chordiels Magazine readers. Keep up the good work, radiate His light M: Thank you Thambi. Enjoy every good work you do for the Lord. God Bless you all.

You are the light of the world. let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven. See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you. Seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own. These passages from Matthew give us an insight into how God takes care of the flowers in the field, and why not to worry about our today’s and tomorrow’s deeds. For it is God who makes the present and the future will take good care of us by shedding His glorious light on us, and on our everyday’s deeds. So keep smiling as He takes care of us! So keep shining as He radiates the eternal light on us !!

Our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ said in the sermon on the mount “You are the light of the World Mathew 5:14 The light removes the darkness, the sin. God's Word is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path Psamls 119:105
Solomon, the wise king, says in Proverbs 4:18, the path of the just is as the shining light that shines more and more unto the perfect day. Apostle Paul says in Philipians 2:15, “holding for the Word of life, you may become blameless and harmless children of God without fault in the midst of the crooked and perverse generation among whom you shine as lights in the world”. Jesus the Son of God said, “I am the light of the world”. John 8:12. He who follows me (Jesus) shall not walk in darkness but have the light of life. love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called as children of God (1 John 3:1) How to Shine: By all your good works, honor all men, love brotherhood, fear God (1 Peter 2:17). moon reflects the light and brightness of the sun, God's children should reflect His light through their good works to the world. Our loving God expects from us this: “Let our light shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in Heaven” Mathew 5:16. The purpose of the light house is to continuously shed light so that ships out there on the dark seas would know that there is shore and life at that side. More than that the children of God will shine whatever they do, wherever they go.
Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord rises upon you.
Lastly, to understand this: the power of Holy Spirit is essential to shine as light to the world. When the power of the Holy Spirit comes upon you, the power of the Highest makes his children brighter than anything. The Holy Spirit of God is doing miracles and wonderful works in midst of His people and shines as His Light. Therefore, it is written in Act 1:8, when the Holy Ghost comes upon you, you shall be witness to Jesus. The early missionaries have worked in India to build Churches,

What Forgiveness Is Not? 1. Forgiveness is not weakness, but strength. 2. Forgiveness does not restore trust, but opens the door to the possibility of reestablishing such trust. Forgiveness is a free gift. Trust must be earned. 3. Forgiveness often does not include a restoration of a relationship, friendship or marriage. You must forgive your divorced or separated spouse, ex-prayer partner, ex-boss or ex-pastor, but the relationship often will not be restored. 4. Forgiveness is not condoning sin or saying that what was done is okay. If a person has sinned against you and/or God, he or she is guilty and must answer to God. He has said: Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is mine; I will repay, saith the Lord. Romans 12:19 One of my client, Maggie, age twenty-one, came forward desiring healing for a painful stomach ulcer. By a word of knowledge I spoke these words to her: “You were hurt deeply when you were thirteen, and you need to forgive the person who hurt you. Maggie began to cry, confessing the rage that had been in her since her early teen years. She repented and, with many tears, forgave the offender. As she forgave and allowed the Holy Spirit to remove the rage within and to heal her hurting heart, she was instantly healed. All the pain from the ulcer left. The Kingdom of God is based on sowing and reaping. The Bible says: Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption. Galatians 6:7 How to Forgive? Forgiveness can change your life. Forgiveness does not mean you erase the past, or forget what has happened. It doesn't even mean the other person will change his behavior you cannot control that. All it means is that you are letting go of the anger and pain, and moving on to a better place. It's not easy. But you can learn to do it. If you're holding onto pain, reliving it, and can't let go and forgive, read on for some things I've learned. 1. Commit to letting go. You aren't going to do it in a second or maybe not even in a day. It can take time to get over something. So commit to changing, because you recognize that the pain is hurting you. 2. Think about the pros and cons. What problems does this pain cause you? Does it affect your relationship with this person? With others? Does it affect work or family? Does it stop you from pursuing your dreams, or becoming a better person? Does it cause you unhappiness? Think of all these problems, and realize you need to change.
Then think of the benefits of forgiveness how it will make you happier, free you from the past and the pain improve things with your relationships and life in general 3. Realize you have a choice. You cannot control the actions of others, and shouldn't try. But you can control not only your actions, but your thoughts. You can stop reliving the hurt, and can choose to move on. You have this power. You just need to learn how to exercise it. 4. Understand your responsibility. Try to figure out how you could have been partially responsible for what happened. What could you have done to prevent it, and how can you prevent it from happening next time? This isn't to say you're taking all the blame, or taking responsibility away from the other person, but to realize that we are not victims but participants in life. 5. Focus on the present. Now that you've reflected on the past, realize that the past is over. It isn't happening anymore, except in your mind. And that causes problems unhappiness and stress. Instead, bring your focus back to the present moment. What are you doing now? What joy can you find in what is happening right now? Find the joy in life now, as it happens, and stop reliving the past. Btw, you will inevitably start thinking about the past, but just acknowledge that, and gently bring yourself back to the present moment. 6. Allow peace to enter your life. As you focus on the present, try focusing on your breathing. Imagine each breath going out is the pain and the past, being released from your body and mind. And imagine each breath coming in is peace, entering you and filling you up. Release the pain and the past. Let peace enter your life. And go forward, thinking no longer of the past, but of peace and the present. 7. Feel compassion. Finally, forgive the person and realize that in forgiveness, you are allowing yourself to be happy and move on. Feel empathy for the person and wish happiness on them. It may take time, but if you're stuck on this point, repeat some of the ones above until you can get here. Many of us have been deeply rejected or hurt by others. Our Lord calls us to forgive as He has forgiven us. Such deep forgiveness often can only come through our being healed from the rejection and hurts of others. We must allow forgiveness and blessing of others in word and deed from the heart to become a way of life. In so doing, we will sow a multitude of blessings into our own lives and into the lives of others. You will be overjoyed at the effect this type of forgiveness will have on your relationships with others and with God. It will bring joy and peace into your life. In addition, it will be a big factor in your being healed physically and in keeping your healing. Try it. Laugh and Cry Your Way to Freedom and be Changed Into His Image Through Inner Healing.

How beautiful is the sky that sheds its golden ray, amidst the dark clouds shines the hope finds its way; Both the morning sun and the setting sun says that the dark gives way to Light, no matter how much intense the darkness is. Bright is our Light when we are in His Might!
The Privilege of being a
Light to this World "You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden” - Mathew 5:14 John Geddie is a Scots- Canadian missionary who went to the South Seas in the mid 19th century. He was there for twenty four years. To make the story short, Leonard Ravenhill says about him, “When he landed in 1848, there were no Christians here, and when he left in 1872 there were no heathen." Christians have a faint understanding of what light is all about. Many might even interpret light as fame. I still cannot understand how Jesus could envision this high spot for His followers. By nature, I am afraid of darkness. The mad craving that one has when he is in darkness cannot be explained. Any rational being can compare the technological advancements that were possible only after the invention of electricity. Today, we cannot even think of being in a place where there is no light. The Lord Jesus visualizes the potential capacities that can be seen in a Christian. He never intended to make us like a boneless jellyfish. He wanted us to be go-getters, people who would accomplish things by the strength of the Lord. It is a tragic state that Christians cannot create even one ripple in their place of work or study. They are tight-lipped trying to secure their jobs and positions. Jesus uses two words - light & hidden. Can light be hidden by something? Never. There is no power in the world that can quench the power of light. That is why night gives way to morning; it cannot stand the power of the morning sun. When I understood that William Carey had actually translated The Bible and parts of The Bible into more than 40 languages, I found that there is no limit to a Christian's potential. The Lord promised that He will make us “an eternal excellence”. Is: 60.15. With such a promise how can we choose not to excel and not to be a light to this world? Jesus said, He who does not gather to me scatters. Mathew 12.30. If we are not light to this world, we remain to be dark. Then we will not gather, we will only scatter. I am greatly challenged by the word that says, “The light that lightens every man” John 1.9. He is that light. Claim this promise for every disobedient friend or brother. This goes beyond the power of illumination; it works towards transformation. May the Lord make us a light to some dark corner of the world.

Dark to Light I witness the shadow of myself Twisted black, empty cold Absent of feeling, abstract soul Demons lurking, darkness flirting Heart bleeds life, lungs inhale death No need for hope to cope Lay down to rest and drift into the abyss The cycle, the perfect pattern In deaths deliberate design For life to be reborn Light illuminating dark The dawn of creation Once again balancing the scales Compassionate warmth continuous growth As the conclusions to all things approach Know that all and everything is what it is No more fleeing from death Put an end to identifying with the flesh Tranquility is found when fears are embraced Venture beyond time and space Remove your-self from your comfort zone If you can not do this with those you love It is better that You do it alone

Crowns They placed on Him with a crown of thorns - pressed on His forehead by a crew of soldiers trying to mock Him. Blood oozed out and flowed down on His face, blinding His sight. His hands & legs nailed to the cross, He couldn’t lift His eyes, because of the cruelty of the thorny crown. The burden of the cross, the furious floggings that tore His body, the pain, the thirst, the agony, the heaviness of the sins of this whole world - all for the King of Jews. Inspite of this mockery, pain and suffering, He loved everyone standing around, including the one who betrayed Him. His eyes searched for you and me, to tell one more time, “I still love you...”
His crown on that fateful Friday purchased us the pardon - forgiveness from sins, hatred, anger, addictions and unloveliness. Why? For us - you and me - to be eternally crowned by Him on that day of Judgement. He died on the cross and rose again to save us and give us His crown of freedom, crown of victory, crown of everlasting life with Him. Like Jesus - the more I bear the crown of this world, the more great is the assurance that the great golden crown is in store for me in the next Home. So let me bear this one with great delight and hope. These days of Lent and Resurrection should keep us reminded that the two crowns - thorny crown He accepted to carry for He loved us, and the golden Crown of victory He keeps in wait for us to inherit it, when we reach Him. Wish you all a Joyful Easter. Let’s celebrate the resurrection of our Lord Jesus, the most jubilant day of the year.
And exchange it someday for a Crown
