National Tree Week at Platinum Way

As I’m writing this article, we are halfway through our mammoth tree planting project at the Platinum Way, Aylesbury.

So far we’ve done 5 days of planting, with volunteers from 10 different organisations and teams, alongside many many other volunteers too. Each day we’ve had a minimum of approximately 20 volunteers, and there have been some days we’ve even had 35-40 volunteers! We have had volunteers from many different backgrounds and ages, and it’s been wonderful to see all our volunteers coming together to help with this task!

With 4 more days to go, and 4 more days of working at Chiltern Rangers for myself, it’s going to be a really special end to the project. Planting 4000 hedgerow whips, as well as bulbs (wild garlic and crocuses) and larger trees, seemed like too big a feat to achieve over such a short period. However, having seen the productivity and teamwork last week and the sheer number of volunteers keen to get involved, I’m excited to see the planting completed!

Thanks so much to everyone who has come out and helped with the planting, it’s been great to end working with Chiltern Rangers with a bang!
