Promontory finds a home downtown
Shawn Vandop is the lead pastor at Promontory Church’s new downtown location. JENNA HAUCK/ PROGRESS
a core program of services – both internationally and here at home. For example, it’s tapped into Chilliwack’s agriculture traditions to help create a dairy farm in Uganda that provides milk to orphans at Noah’s Ark Children’s Ministry.
It is also working in Mexico and Brazil. Closer to home, Promontory is excited about its youth ministries, Vandop says. The new Downtown location offers a fun and encouraging environment where young people can feel at
home, while strengthening their faith. Promontory’s Main Street Campus is located at 9325 Main Street. Sunday services begin at 10:30 a.m. For more information, call 604.792.6844.

also secured an adjacent building with another 5,000 square feet for its youth ministry. It officially opened in June. And while the Main Street Campus is still settling into its downtown home, it’s looking for ways it can serve the community. “We’re really kind of asking God what kind of resource we can be,” says Vandop. Its roots may be on the hillside, but Promontory Church is planting new seeds for growth in Chilliwack’s downtown. Promontory Church opened its Main Street Campus in June, and already the church is seeing new faces blossom in its congregation. It still has its home in Promontory, but recently moved into a space it heavily renovated at Main Street and Princess Ave. “We’re one church in two locations,” says Lead Pastor Shawn Vandop. Last year Promontory purchased the Liquidation World building. It’s using the 10,000 square foot section for church programs, while leasing the remainder back to Liquidation World for retail operations. Promontory
