Little Home Bird Written and illustrated by Jo Empson

Little Bird loves everything about his home. He’s surrounded by his favorite branch, his favorite food, his favorite view and his favorite music. Why on earth would he ever want to change, even when his brother tells him that they must? Discover how Little Bird ends up finding happiness in his new home away from home in this beautifully illustrated picture book. Perfect for all children who love their home, however many they may have. • The comforting tone will resonate with children who have more than one home. The book is particularly relevant to children whose parents are separating, as they come to terms with the changes and grow accustomed to having more than one place to call home. • Introduce children to the topic of bird migration and use the map in the endpapers as a starting point to discuss how and why migration takes place.

Empson’s dreamy illustrations capture the beauty and majesty of nature with warmth and elegance; wide-eyed Little Bird is a green-and-yellow puffball. Simply lovely. – Kirkus Reviews

Mr. Moon Wakes Up Written and illustrated by Jemima Sharpe

Mr. Moon always sleeps. He naps during hide-and-seek, passes out on puzzles and dozes during adventure stories. But what would happen if Mr. Moon ever woke up? Would he lead us to hidden, dream-like worlds, filled with fantastic friends and exciting games? And if he did, would we remember in the morning? • This is a picture book which celebrates the world of the imagination – the unseen and hidden things that just might be going on while we sleep. • Set in a peaceful and timeless garden, filled with traditional games and activities, it encourages the reader to see the extraordinary in the everyday. • A beautiful, haunting debut picture book featuring delicate hand-screen printed illustrations.

And Then...

Written and illustrated by Alborozo It’s hard being an older sister when everybody is admiring your newly born younger (I would change to “brand new baby brother”) brother – particularly on your birthday. Especially when that younger (baby) brother is noisy, smelly and slimy – just like a tiny squid! How can our hero grab everyone’s attention, and grow to love her brother in the process? This quirky, exuberant picture book reminds us of the power of the imagination, and shows us how telling stories can help us order and deal with our experiences. • ‘And Then...’ celebrates creativity and the traditional art of storytelling. • The book can be used as a starting point for a number of creative activities. For example, children can create their own outrageous story, using ‘and then...’ to connect a series of nonsensical events. Why not have a competition to see who can tell the longest tale without stopping?

9781846436963 Hard cover, 32 pages, 10 1/2” x 9 3/4”, 3 - 7 years. $16.99 9781846436956 Soft cover, 32 pages, 10 1/2” x 9 3/4”, 3 - 7 years. $7.99 August 1, 2016

Cat’s Colors

Written and illustrated by Airlie Anderson What better thing to do on a gray day than collect some colors? Cat decides to do just that, but where will she find them? A charming, deceptively simple story about making the most of the world around us, and giving something back in return. (maybe say something about a surprise ending?)

• This picture book’s soothing tone makes it a perfect story for bedtime, as cat’s gentle and engaging journey has a calming influence. • Primarily a book about colors, it also raises children’s awareness of the environment and the tranquility that it offers.

9781846437618, Hard cover, 32 pages, 11 ¼” x 8 ¾”, 3 - 7 Years. $16.99 August 1, 2016.

Airlie Anderson graduated from the illustration department at the Rhode Island School of Design. Her first book, Momo and Snap are NOT friends!, won the 2014 Gold Independent Publisher Book Award. Airlie teaches and makes art in Princeton, NJ, a town that is home to many cats and even more books.

child’s early years are more important than any other. This is when children learn most about the world around them, and the language they need to survive and grow. For over forty years, Child’s Play has put enormous thought and care into creating exactly the right sort of material for this all-important time. Respected and loved by parents and educators alike, the Child’s Play program offers learning, fun and happiness to children from the very earliest age. It offers a wide and diverse range of formats and experiences, that will enrich and empower every child’s life. Child’s Play has a history of creating innovative, awardwinning books for children that promote learning through play. Vibrant illustrations positively portray children of all cultures, nationalities, gender and abilities, helping children to develop an understanding of our diverse society. Non-stereotypical traditions and values are promoted as a matter of course.
