It’s been a whirlwind year for Jess (21), Amira (18), Asami (18) and Shereen (17) - four feisty ladies that make up new British girlband, Neon Jungle. As well as having three chart hits firmly under their belt, the girls have just signed a deal with RCA Records in America after they were handpicked by iconic lingerie brand Victoria’s Secret to perform at their legendary fashion show in New York. And if that wasn’t enough, the girls have also toured with Jessie J, have been snapped up by model agency Storm, and have been confirmed to perform at a series of festivals this summer. How did you all meet? We were put in a room together at auditions in London. Two of us were scouted while out shopping and two of us were scouted from YouTube. Such a fairy-tale. Tell us about your debut album, Welcome to the Jungle? It’s a diverse album that we produced in NYC. It features influences from all four band members – we’re all so different but it works. Your latest single, Louder, is a move away from your upbeat tracks. Why the change of direction? It’s a stripped back mid-tempo number – a move away from the catchy dance beats people know us for. A lot of people will be able to relate to the lyrics. It’s about drowning out feelings and emotions - not being in control of the way you feel because of someone else and wanting to turn everything up louder to escape that. People expected our fourth single to be another dance track but it was always in our plans to release a slower song and surprise people. It’s still got the energy and power but in a more subtle way.
