Wildcard

We are pleased to announce the Sugar Bars Legacy Sale “Wildcard.” The first horse sold in the sale will be a “wildcard.” The winning bidder for the “wildcard” lot will have his/her choice of any weanling in the sale. With no colt in the ring, the auctioneer will ask for bids on the “wildcard”. It will be auctioned in the same manner as every other foal in the sale, with the exception of the fact that, no one will know until the bidding is over and the winning bidder chooses his/her foal, which horse has actually been sold. That foal must be claimed immediately on winning the bid – and then will be removed from the catalog order. The sale will resume with the remainder of the consigned foals in catalog order.

This filly represents the heart of our program! A “Sugar Bars Tough” daughter crossed with Zanadunn Bonanza, both home bred and raised. This filly’s dam, “Lark” is a big girl – easily 16h tall, stout, thick and she is smooth. “Bonanza’s” sire – “Dunny” is a red dun Zan Parr Bar, Blondy’s Dude & Coy’s Bonanza bred stallion. He’s one of the ranch’s favorite mounts; ranch raised and loves his job- ranch work: dragging calves at branding, sorting/doctoring cattle, driving cattle and checking wells. When we need an extra mount, he’s one you can pull out of the mares and saddle up. She’s just like him: easy going, an attention hog and bred for performance. They didn’t disappoint with this filly; long deep body and hip, thick and heavy muscled. This filly is bred and built to move and work a cow! Wholly smokes, would you take a look at this guy’s pedigree; Wow! You have some of the top all around leading sires of all time right on his papers, and not to mention Sugar Bars himself only one generation off. This was this mare’s first colt so I kept him to see how he matured out and she did not disappoint. This colt has the potential to add some great bloodlines and ability to your herd. He was left a stud so that someone would have the opportunity to own this stallion prospect and improve on their program or starting a new one. Pistol should have the ability to go in any direction you asked him to, barrel, roping, ranch pleasure, sorting; you name it, he’ll do it! This is one outstanding opportunity for any breeding entrepreneur to take and prove him and then produce some amazing foals. Balance, agility, disposition, looks, breeding! What more could you ask for in an up and coming stallion? For more info contact Aleena @ 406-720-0734.

Sire Very Smart Remedy has produced offspring with over 1 million in NRCHA earnings. Dam Freckles K Lena has produced numerous AQHA and NRCHA earners and futurity winners. “Smarty” as I call him, stands around 14.2 hands. He is a thickly made gelding. I purchased “Smarty” when he was around 14 months old from the breeder. I started him myself and rode him at a couple of snaffle bit clinics. Smarty has been worked some on cattle, as well as worked the cutting horse flag and has roped the rocky country. Smarty is easy to handle, very gentle, and has never humped or bucked with me. Smarty is also an exceptional athlete; he can side pass, spin, and perform a good sliding stop. Smarty, in my opinion, would be an excellent rope horse prospect. He is just plain fun to ride in the arena and outside. Smarty is safe, sane, and has no issues.

There is always exceptions to rules and this guy was my exception to our ranch rule “all geldings are for sale.” I had big plans for him to be Mataya’s future barrel/pole horse. The basics are done, he has worked the ranch, roped the bulls, worked the sale barn, drug calves at brandings, halter broke colts, trailed many miles and has been patterned well on barrels and poles. He has been hauled to jack pots and exhibitioned, he is ready to add speed. He has also tracked and started breakaway roping/heeling. He was used this past winter in the skijoring event in Deadwood, where he posted the fastest time (if Skiler wouldn’t have faulted). This guy has the looks and potential to be a champion but due to unforseen circumstances in our life, I have decided he needs to go to someone who will finish him and use him to his full potential. Please follow him on www. vlwranch.com or VLW Ranch on Facebook to see numerous videos and pictures of “Footloose.”
