2016 RQHBA Don Brunner Memorial Yearling Futurity Futurity Information: • $833.00 purse per division – studs, geldings, fillies. • Futurity will be held during Central States Fair in August 2016. • Futurity will be for yearlings only (studs, geldings, fillies). • To be eligible, the foal must have SOLD through the 2015 RQHBA Sale; eligibility will follow the horse. • The yearling must show to three judges. • Winnings will be awarded to the registered owner at time of futurity. • Original papers are to be presented for show registration (to verify ownership). • AQHA membership required. • Showing expenses are the owner’s responsibility (entry fees, stall, etc.). • Payback will be based on number of RQHBA entries and number of RQHBA horses defeated. • RQHBA members/consignors are not eligible to compete for futurity funds. 2015 Ranch Horse Futurity

8 a.m. Aug. 30 at Besler’s Cadillac Ranch Any horses purchased through the RQHBA sale that turned 2 or 3 years old in 2015 can compete for cash! Mares, geldings and stallions can compete against each other for $600 in 2015. Entry fees are $75 if paid by Aug. 1; late entrants will be accepted for an additional fee. Following is the point structure that will be used and guidelines for determining the winner: 1. Gate (horseback) 25 pts. 2. Bridge (walk over) 15 pts. 3. Logs (trot through) 15 pts. 4. Log (drag figure 8) 20 pts. 5. Reining pattern – 50 pts. Posted morning of Futurity 6. Dismount on right side & pick up right rear leg 25 pts. 7. Exit arena west end 150 pts Total First place wins $300; second place wins $200; and third place wins $100. 2015 sponsors include Sally O’Malleys, Cenex/EZMart, CBH Cooperative, Black Hills Riding Club, High Plains Genetics, Big 81 KBHB, Rapid City Quarter Horse Association, Dry Well Ranch Performance Horses, and Tri-State Livestock News. In the event of a tie, the 2-year-old will win over the 3-year-old. If there’s a tie between two horses of the same age, the one with the highest reining score will win. Participants will have three attempts at each obstacle before passing. Participants have the option of skipping an obstacle that he or she feels would not do his or her pattern justice.
