Research and Training center _ Master's Degree

Project Area The Research and Training Center is located in La Rustica, Rome, in a suburbs area, suited for a building like this, near the urban area and surrounded by a work district.

MUSEO ALBERTO SORDI The competition was about transforming Alberto Sordi’s House in a Museum of Alberto Sordi himself as an artist. It is located near historical sites such as Terme di Caracalla and Circo Massimo and very close to the gateway of Via Appia Antica, historical roman street. That’s the reason why it has to have also an important role to disclose the importance of this historical site. In fact the exterior space is dedicated to Via Appia Antica, with a thematic permanent exhibition. As the same way the space under the fountain is furnished with elements that remind the archeological site we’re talking about. Respecting the originary building the project wants to give another life to the site to make it a new cultural place for the city of Rome and a benchmark for all the citizens.

The inside of the Villa is dedicated to a permanent exhibition about Alberto Sordi’s career. It conteins pictures, objects and multimedial projections. The court was designed as a space for events related to the theme of the museum, installations or outdoor projections. Materials choice was guided by the intention of integrating the new interventions with the pre-existence, taking into account the visual impact. Therefore, it was used corten, glass and wood that allow to recognize the intervention as new while maintaining a chromaticism close to the pre-existence one.
