The funds raised help the UCSU cover postage costs for this service. The mailing is posted directly to students home address’ before they arrive at University.

Academic Zone > Individual Representation

Individual Representation

We hope your time at the University of Chichester is educational, enjoyable problem free, but the Union recognises and that occasionally a student may have a particular problem that is unique to them and needs support, we are there to provide that support. If you get in trouble or in a dispute with the University then we are the experts who can help you, we can provide you advice on the Universities regulations, help you draft appeals or complaints and most importantly we can go with you and support/represent you at disciplinary or appeal hearings or other sensitive meetings with the University where you feel you need support. The University are fantastic at ensuring students have the information and support they need and are always happy to discuss your issues with a Union representative so we urge you if ever you think you might be in trouble or need help to contact us as soon as possible. Common problems that we provide support/advice on include: • Academic Malpractice – plagiarism • Complaints procedure • Appealing the result of an exam board • Harassment procedure

WELFARE AND EMPOWERMENT ZONE

The Union employs professional staff to ensure you get the best advice. If you need more information then pick up one of our range of leaflets available around the university or email representation@chi.a c.uk

Campaigns

Course costs (additional or hidden)

This year we aim to lobby the university so that in the next prospectus they publish for each course what additional things you will need to purchase after you have paid your tuition fees. Things such as travel expenses if you’re on an education course and you have to travel to your school every day, materials for your work if you’re doing an Art course.

This Zone is responsible for undertaking and reviewing research into the welfare experience of the students of the University of Chichester and to make recommendations to the University and other Students’ Union Committees for action. The Zone is also required to decide upon and run welfare campaigns to raise awareness and create positive change for students, especially relating to equality issues such as race, ethnic origin, gender, marital or parental status, sexual orientation, disability, age or political beliefs.

Feedback

Your education costs money, and the best way to get the most for your money is from feedback. Written and Verbal feedback is concise and it helps you to learn but sometimes you have to wonder, is it too late? This year we would like to secure you the students feedback on your assignments within 3 weeks of hand-in’s so that can see the benefit and value for money you within learning and teaching. www.chisu.org www.chisu.org
