CHETS CREEK CHURCH
OUR MISSION : TO KNOW GOD AND BE CHANGED BY HIM IN A WAY THAT WILL CHANGE THE WORLD.
FROM PASTOR SPIKE As we look back on 2013 and the 15 years that brought us here, I can’t help but be thankful. God has done amazing things in and through Chets Creek Church. It is overwhelming to think of all the people who have been part of the story of our church. Throughout this report you will read stories and see numbers that represent just a sampling of how God has been changing lives in 2013. Back in January, I asked that we pray together for God’s continued blessings and direction in our lives, our families, and our church family with the Jabez Prayer Challenge. A year later, I’m confident that 15 years from here we will look back on 2013 as one of the most pivotal years in the life of our church as God has been changing and shaping us to be used by Him in ways that will change the world. God has seen us through a rewarding but difficult year in 2013. We fully anticipate that He has great days for us ahead in 2014 and beyond. Pray with me that God would use us in a powerful way this year for His glory. It’s a joy to serve together with you,
Lead Pastor Chets Creek Church
ORGANIZATIONAL AND STAFF CHANGES 2013 has been marked by a number of staff and organizational changes. Although we would not have chosen all of these changes, we trust that God will use them for good as we pursue His will for us in the years to come.

THE OLD HAS GONE. THE NEW HAS COME.
LIFE WAS ALWAYS PRETTY GOOD. I WAS NEVER ARRESTED, NEVER DID DRUGS, HAVE A WONDERFUL RELATIONSHIP WITH MY WIFE, WAS NEVER BEHIND ON ANY BILLS. I WAS HAPPY AND THINGS WERE GOOD. BUT SOMETHING WAS MISSING. My sister Shanda invited me to Chets for the Night of Worship in October. It changed my life. Now that I have a relationship with Christ, there’s this indescribable feeling. I’ve found the missing part of my good life. I thank God that I’m alive and for His power to rescue those who are lost. Chets Creek is the most wonderful church family that I have ever been part of. The people have made me feel at home and shown me so much love. Everyday of my life now is about learning to follow Christ and trusting Him to lead me in the right direction. - Rick Conway

NEW LIFEGROUPS STARTED IN 2013
I was diagnosed with Metastatic Melanoma in May 2013. It hit us like a ton of bricks. We didn't know exactly what to expect from the diagnosis and upcoming treatment, but we knew that we had to rely heavily on God and trust His plan. Being part of the Hastings/Rosas LifeGroup has never been so rewarding. Our group has showered our family with support: meals, help cleaning the house, emotional support, and, most of all, prayers. We've never experienced such love! Our family needed strength more than ever before and God's family, through the our LifeGroup and Chets Creek Church, was there to hold us up. LIFEGROUPS ARE THERE FOR A VARIETY OF PURPOSES BUT THEIR WILLINGNESS TO SHARE IN OUR TRIALS WAS SUCH A BLESSING. I CAN'T THINK OF A BETTER GROUP OF PEOPLE TO DO LIFE WITH! - Scott Nelson

LIFE IS NOT ALWAYS EASY. BUT GOD IS ALWAYS GOOD. AND NO MATTER WHAT’S GOING ON IN OUR LIVES, THERE’S ALWAYS SOMETHING TO BE THANKFUL FOR. Anderson lost his job in February, due to government cutbacks. To say this was a difficult time for our family is a bit of an understatement. But God is good. He promises to honor faithfulness, and he has in so many ways. I knew he would take care of us, but as a mother, I was definitely scared. We decided to keep tithing like we always have, but it was scary. For the first time in our marriage we were giving totally based on faith; not convenience. But we decided that either God keeps his promises, or he doesn’t. So we gave the same amount we’d been giving when we were both working. That first week was really scary, but God turned around and blew our minds. The same day a friend gave me a card with some money inside. It was EXACTLY the amount we had just tithed. The entire six weeks that Anderson didn’t have a job, we continued to tithe, and each week someone gave us exactly the amount we had given or more! Our God is amazing! - Lyndsay Almeida

Our Missions Weekend in March raised nearly $75,000 for the India Gospel League. On April 28, over 2,000 of our Chets family gathered at the UNF Arena to celebrate our 15th anniversary.
We had our largest VBS ever with 905 kids and adult volunteers participating. During VBS, 29 children prayed to begin a relationship with Christ!
Together as a church family we asked, What on Earth Am I Here For? during our fall 40-day spiritual journey.
The first #pinkforjon 5K had 373 registered participants and raised over $14,000.
My wife and I have been part of the Chets family for the last 10 years and God has grown us through our involvement. When we first came, God immediately led me toward being part of the Celebrate Recovery ministry, eventually serving as the ministry leader for CR. In seven years of serving with CR, we saw God’s phenomenal healing power as He restored so many broken lives. Several months ago, God led us to start and lead a new LifeGroup. We now have a loving and caring group with open discussions about life’s challenges and how we face those challenges from a biblical perspective. VOLUNTEERING AT CHETS CONTINUES TO BE AN AWESOME EXPERIENCE THAT KEEPS MY RELATIONSHIP WITH THE LORD GROWING. GOD HAS PROVIDED ME WITH DIFFERENT TALENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES TO USE THEM FOR HIS GLORY. I’M NEVER HAPPIER THAN WHEN I’M SERVING! - Roger McDonell
IMPACT JAX 2013
1 DAY. 23 SERVICE PROJECTS. OVER 500 VOLUNTEERS. A CITY CHANGED.
The Price LifeGroup provides a meal and encouragement to residents of the Gabriel House for families who are displaced while recieving treatment at Mayo. This note was sent by a caregiver that was part of the Thanksgiving dinner they served in November.
Thanks you so much for the lovely dinner. As it worked out that was the last meal for my dad before a major surgery. He ate that meal with gusto - saying over and over how good it was - that he could taste food for the first time in months. He actually cleaned his plate after refusing anything more than a few bites for months. He said, “Boy if I were going to be shot at dawn and had to pick my last meal - this would be it!” THERE ARE LITERALLY NOT WORDS TO EXPRESS MY THANKS FOR THE GIFT YOU GAVE HIM.

For two years, God had been whispering to my heart, “Will you follow me?” I was starting to worry that He was asking me to do something I wasn’t ready to do. I had mentioned the idea of a mission trip to only two people for fear that others would think I was nuts for even thinking God would ask ME to go. Surely He would send someone who could represent Him better. I didn’t know much but I knew that I had a great need for God and that I had a God with a great love for me. And when He called, nothing else mattered. Our team served in Rio this past September. I can’t begin to describe how God used me and all that He showed me. Children high on crack. Men and women nearing death. Broken addicts turning their lives to Him. In the worst of situations, God was there, breaking down barriers and using us to share His grace and mercy. He found the perfect ways to use my imperfect story to speak love and truth to those who so desperately needed it. NOW WHEN I HEAR GOD WHISPERING, I DON’T WORRY AS MUCH. MY PRAYER IS NOW, “GOD, SEND ME.”
