Season 2016/17

FC BRUNO’S MAGPIES

V FC Hound Dogs 28 November 18:15 Gibraltar Second Division

HEAD COACH’S NOTE Good evening Magpies Mad Squad, I’ll choose my words carefully tonight, like I must equally now choose my match wearing attire, in order to stay free from abuse from the “we tweet what we want brigade. Welcome back to the next edition of our incredible journey so far? Tonight we give our opponents every measure of respect, due to our form in recent weeks against supposed weaker opposition, where I feel we failed to capitalise on our superior possession and shots on goal. This fixture has the potential to be our banana skin, however, I fully expect the payers to stand up and play as we did finally in the second half of last week’s game. The league’s beginning to take shape and appears that both Gib Phoenix and ourselves could be pushing out in front with Boca closely tucked in behind applying pressure if any of us slip up. Tonight we are close to a full squad, which gives the staff great options both on and off the bench, it’s a healthy but testing position to be in as a coaches and makes for interesting conversations on selections and formations! We need to start strong and maintain momentum through both periods, 3 points is our base line expectation, in addition I expect a great performance too. Thank you for your support, keep singing, cheering and carry us to the final whistle. DAVIE WILSON ABOUT FC BRUNOS MAGPIES Founded Home Ground Capacity

MESSAGE FROM THE CLUB SPONSOR - CHESTERTONS

Evening all Bank to Monday night football , my preferred evening. Adds some excitement to the first day back at work. This is top v bottom. However, everyone thought the Magpies in the UK (Newcastle) would achieve a new club record ten victories in a row on Saturday but were beaten 0-1 at home by struggling Championship side Blackburn. No such thing as an easy game. With Phoenix breathing down our neck, it looks like we may need to win every game left, all nine of them. Is that possible? Over to Davie. What we do need is to boost the coffers. Please dig deep, spread the word. The club is moving into full-time fund raising mode for a few weeks. Know anyone? Any company who might benefit from Gibraltar’s most active club? Please contact Louis Perry asap. Our final game before Christmas after tonight is the Ocean Village Classico on 13 December at 20.30 v Boca Juniors. The club has just lost 3 points v Angels for breaching the HGP rule. They will not be happy about that. As the only other club with some fans, it has the potential to be a great match.. And now a plug for Chestertons’ own event to be held on Fri 16 Dec from 8.30am. It’s the BIG breakfast. Our staff are offering their culinary skills to make egg, bacon and sausage baps for your breakfast or lunch. Every penny goes to GBC Open Day charity. Chestertons’ supplies all the ingredients. Pre-orders can be taken and we will deliver to lawyers, military camps, gaming companies and even 100 acre wood. Meanwhile, there’s still time to instruct us to sell or rent your property before Christmas. There is strong demand. Enjoy the match. Mike Nicholls Managing Director

We need your help—please! The club is run based on the support of sponsors, advertisers and donations. The club does not receive money from the GFA. No officer of the club earns any money, indeed just the opposite. The club is not seeking to make a profit, that’s not the purpose. The club does want to win promotion and we seek further funds to maintain this promotion push in the second half of the season.

TONIGHT’S OPPONENTS - FC HOUND DOGS Preparations have been going ok despite limited access to suitable training facilities. We come into this game after a 3 week break looking for more consistency in our performances. Our young squad have shown glimpses of their potential and we believe the results will come. We have been the better side in a lot of our matches this season and need to increase concentration levels and also convert our chances. We are proud to have the both the youngest squad in Gib but also one boasting the most amount of local players. Chris Gomez - Manager

SUPPORT OUR SUPPORTERS — REBECCA FALLER Rebecca Faller launched her first novel this week. ‘Renault 5’ is a true real life adventure when Ms Faller and her friends set off in a Renault 5 across France, Andorra, Spain, Gibraltar, Morocco and Portugal. Over 25 years ago, the group made their way in a car she bought from her father and which would eventually see her make Gibraltar her home. The launch at Sacarello’s saw Ms Faller being interviewed by YGTV editor Giordano Durante. Guests included Governor Lt Gen Eward Davies, friends and guests. The book is available in local bookshops retails at £6 with £1 of each sale donated to the Movember appeal for Prostate Cancer. Thanks to Gibraltar Chronicle for this write-up.

HOME GROWN PLAYER RULE

This is what Boca Juniors released on 11 November just before their 3-2 win against Angels

This is what appeared on the GFA website on Fri 25 November and the table was amended. We have not seen any official statement at the time of going to press. But what is clear is that Angels got the points.
