As more and more people are made aware of just what damage is being done to our environment thanks to the electric companies, they are looking for better ways to get the electrical power that they need - cleaner ways. The best thing to start looking into would be that of green DIY energy. You might think that this is something that is much too complicated or that would cost too much money, but once you really take a close look at all of the facts, you might just find yourself ready to get started. First, you do need to remember that; there are generally an upfront cost associated with getting your green DIY energy up and running. After all, you need to have a way to collect power and generate electricity. These things are not free. However, this does not mean that you are going to have to break the bank either. The exact cost of your green power set up will depend on a few different factors. Are you setting this up yourself or are you hiring a contractor? Are you going to solar or wind power? How large is your house? How much electricity does your household generally need throughout an average month? Are there rebate programs and tax incentives that you will be able to take advantage of? When you find yourself able to answer these questions, you will be one step closer to finally having your green DIY energy up and running. Now, the obvious choice with DIY energy is to install the mechanics on your own. This might seem like an overly complicated thing, but it really isn't. There are plenty of clear directions that will come with your green energy kit and more directions and tips can always be found online. Basically, if you are ale to use simple tools and are able to measure, you will have no problem getting everything set up. Before you purchase anything though, you are going to want to see if there are any tax incentives that you will be able to take advantage of in the future. You will also want to search out government grants or reimbursements. Such things can also be found through some individual electric companies, even though some people find that hard to believe. Generally, what you will find is a reimbursement program for a certain percentage of the purchase and installation price of your green DIY energy system. However, this is going to be a substantial savings for you. When you have all of your ducks in a row, so to speak, you are going to want to get started. First, make sure that you are shopping around. For example, if you are opting for solar panels, you will find that one company will charge more per panel than another. Some companies sell the panels in a kit to get started with and then you will buy individual panels as you need more of them. This is where it will become obvious that knowing the size of your home and the amount of electricity commonly used is important. If you find that you are currently not able to afford the upfront cost of the energy system to run your

house off of complete green power, even after taking the reimbursements into consideration, you can always start small and work your way up. Buy two or three panels. Install those and watch your savings. As you can afford it, buy more panels. Eventually you will get to the point where you have your whole house running off of green energy.
