RoadAhead APRIL 2013

Brand refresh It’s all change as we head into our 25th anniversary year! The Anderson Travel Group has rebranded, bringing all of our brands under one roof and will now be known as Anderson Travel. With five company brands operating under the Anderson Travel umbrella – Anderson Travel (coach hire), Anderson Tours, London Transfers 4 U, Off the Beaten Track and Out There Excursions – we thought it was time to give them all a unified brand to strengthen our position in the market. Anderson Tours will remain a sub brand, with the website staying.

New uniforms As part of the brand refresh we identified a clear need for smarter and more professional uniforms. So to kick off 2013 in style we have kitted drivers out in grey and black uniforms which showcase the new Anderson Travel logo nicely. The presentation of drivers is key to the public perception of the company and is another step towards the professional outlook we want to portray.

We will be upping the ante with our marketing and have bought Ten Alps onboard to assist with this. Throughout this year there will be regular team newsletters such as this, a new corporate brochure to enable our sales teams to cross sell our different services, a redesign of the website to reflect the new overarching brand and increased PR efforts. With all of our commitment, we can let people know we are the best coach operator around.

This is our year to shine!

New vehicles investment Our £3.5 million investment in vehicles this year has already seen us take delivery of a number of new coaches, with another six arriving this month and next. Coupled with the newly rebranded livery they look fantastic and are turning heads on the streets of London. We have renewed 20 out of 25 in the fleet, which means that none of our coaches are more than three years old. These will keep us going for the next five years so please drive them with pride and take good care of them!

Action for Blind People

Some of our drivers recently took part in Transport for London’s Safe Urban Driving course, which focuses on driving in London and vulnerable road users, including cyclists. This is the first accredited course in the UK to include practical on-road cycle training for drivers and will count towards the 35 hours DCPC that professional drivers need to complete by September 2014. Through our membership of CoachMarque and the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme we have been able to provide drivers with practical, up to date and highly relevant training, free of charge. Driving around London on a daily basis is a difficult job demanding huge levels of concentration. What I hope we have achieved with this course is to make our staff that little bit more aware of vulnerable road users who are using the same road space as them.

We will be supporting the Action for Blind People charity over the next few months, providing drivers to operate its mobile sight loss vehicles around London and the South – thank you to those of you that are getting involved. The mobile sight loss information service aims to reach as many blind and partially sighted people as possible in town centres, shopping centres and conferences so that they can access information that can improve their lives. The charity is short of drivers so it’s great that we can help out and do our bit.

25th anniversary year 2013 sees the company celebrate 25 years in driving excellence! A big thank you to everyone that has been a part of the Anderson brand throughout the years and we look forward to the years ahead. It’s a big year for the company and we’re excited to share it with you. We are one of the few original London based coach operators to have weathered the economic climate and our future plans will no doubt see us go from strength to strength.

GreenRoad award A special mention to Layne Mitchell who has been awarded GreenRoad’s Fleet Elite status, designed to motivate and reward superior driver performance. GreenRoad provides drivers with real-time, in-vehicle feedback every trip, every mile. Layne has maintained a safety score of under five over the last year, over 500 driving hours. He will receive a membership card and lapel pin to mark his achievement and we as a company will also be commending his efforts – watch this space for how! GreenRoad is running the Fleet Elite programme again for 2013 – can you maintain a safety score of five or less for the complete year, with a minimum of 500 GreenRoad hours logged?
