Introduction

Two (and a half) layers: •  Sub-inner layer: The supportive soft shell, to be attached to inner layer. This is where the contents of your bag live! •  Inner layer: a lighter jacket that can be removed when the weather gets warmer •  Outer layer: a heavier jacket worn during winter months There is access to the pouches on both the inner and outer layer.

Aesthetics

Prototype

Aesthetics •  •  •  •

Instead of hiding zippers, using it as a color accent Single solid color, with contrasting zipper color Streamlining touches Smaller and less pockets to reduce bulk

Realizations •  The Jacket and the Backpack work functionally as two separate units already •  Not necessarily the best or most beneficial combination •  Putting "jacket" and "backpack" together gives •  Would face lots of challenges the audience a when trying to make the product predetermined judgment on functional the product and outcome •  Difficult to suit such a wide range before even considering of audience's needs (as seen in survey results) •  Need to come up with a new name for the product that rids the stigma around a "jacket backpack"

Final Realization…

We need to specialize the jacket & Emphasize either the “jacket” or the “backpack”, but not both (and call it something cooler.)

New Product Idea

•  A jacket specialized for hiking, with a small pack in the back to replace the daypack •  Emphasis on comfort with super wide straps (t-shirt shape will be taken off, leaving only the area shown in darker tape) •  One thick strap on the side, adjustable in front
