Community News A Letter from your Community Staff Dear Chelsea Ridge Residents, We hope everyone is enjoying the unusually warm weather we are having. We don’t know how long this will last, so, we hope everyone has an opportunity to get outside and enjoy it before it gets cold again. January was the first month of our new ‘resident function program’ and we missed you. January is always a busy month for all of us trying to recover from all the holiday celebrating from the previous months and trying to commit to our New Year Resolutions. In February we are hosting a ‘Meet and Greet’ and we would like to invite everyone to join us at the leasing office to meet your Management staff and fellow residents. This past year we
have been focused on the renovations and creating a superior living environment. This year our focus is on building relationships with our residents and growing a sense of community. So, make one of your New Years Resolutions to ‘get connected with your community’ and what better way to do that then attending your resident functions. We would love to see you at our February ‘Meet and Greet’. Have a great Valentine’s Day Warm regards, Cheryl Jennifer Caleb Emy

TEENS GET INVOLVED AT JOHNS CREEK HIGH SCHOOL JCHS has recently begun to work with a nonprofit based in Roswell, GA called GivingPoint, which gives teens the opportunity to discover their civic passion and track their service hours. The unique part about GivingPoint is that teens can earn points that can be turned into cash grants for the nonprofits they care about. As teens begin to track their service contributions and earn points on the website through interactive tools and quizzes, they create their civic transcript (that can be downloaded for our service cord graduation requirements and/or college applications). The website, www.MyGivingPoint.org is a wonderful resource to inspire teens and help the causes that they care most about. For every 500 points earned, you can get $250 in micro-grants for nonprofits. Think of all those volunteer hours that can be transferred into grants to help our community! Johns Creek High School will be using GivingPoint to track and record our student service cord program requirements. All seniors who want to earn a service cord must earn 500 GivingPoints and apply for a GivingPoint grant.
NEW SUPER SPEEDER LAW Georgia got tougher on illegal speeders Jan 1 when the new “Super Speeder Law” went into effect. Designed to crack down on high-risk drivers who endanger other motorists and ignore warnings to slow down, the new law adds a $200 fine for any driver convicted of speeding at 75 mph or more on any two-lane roads OR convicted of speeding at 85 mph and above anywhere in Georgia. These new state fees are in addition to any local fines already in effect in Johns Creek and they will be used to help fund Georgia’s trauma care hospital system. According to the Governor’s Office of Highway Safety, approximately 60 percent of all trauma-care patients are a result of vehicle accidents.

LIGHTING OF THE FLAME
ARE YOU AN IDOL FAN
GOING OUT OF BUSINESS
NBC will be airing the live coverage of the 2010 Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony.
American Idol is one of those shows that either you love it, or you simply can’t “not” look at the horror in front of you. The auditions are happening now and this year is serving up the craziness like every year before.
Have you noticed all of the businesses going OUT of Business? What is even worse about that is the fact that MANY times it did not have to happen.
On February 12, 2010 the lights in Vancouver’s BC Place will grow dark and there will be the lighting of the Olympic flame. John Furlong has not revealed what will take place during the lighting ceremony but he has promised that it will “unite passionate Canadians, thrill the world’s best winter athletes and bring hope to the world over”. This is the first Indoor opening ceremony and they have kept it a well guarded secret only to be revealed on opening night.
All I can say is, I can’t wait to see what Ellen is going to bring to the table. Many have been skepticle of her coming on the show, but I can’t wait! It looks like there is going to be some pretty good singing talent on the show this year. So another year of “who is your favorite?” has started, so let the crazy American Idol addiction begin.
If a company isn’t marketing and thinking outside of the box with its customer relations and exposure, then perhaps it is unavoidable. It starts with exposure, get people talking about the services or products you offer. After all, if they do not know about you, then how do they know about you? Seems crazy simple doesn’t it?
