CCCT UPDATE

The Chartwell Children’s Cancer Trust Supporting oncology children and families in your area Toni & Guy Ward – King’s College Hospital – We are working with the medical team to help enhance and upgrade the Ward including the refurbishment of the cubicles. We have put in a coffee machine for the medical staff, and we replenish the neutropenic cupboard with books, games and toys when it is needed. Frog/Lily Pad Appeal – Croydon University Hospital – We support the oncology medical team by providing medical equipment, nurse training, taxis for patients and top up the treasure chest with toys on a regular basis. We are raising £750,000 to create a stateof-the-art Children’s Oncology Unit, Part of the New Integrated Village at Croydon University Hospital. And there is more… • We are also improving the education of our children by equipping schools with ‘No Isolation’ Robots, giving seriously ill children,

live, interactive connections to their classroom, teachers and peers. • We have a lovely holiday home for oncology families on the Isle of Wight equipped to cater for neutropenic children. On the island, there is a Paediatric Oncology Unit so that oncology families can spend family time away safe in the knowledge that it is close by. We rely on our supporters to help make all of this happen through donations and fundraising events.

or over 13 years, The Chartwell Cancer Trust has been supporting local cancer and leukaemia services to improve cancer care for children and adults. Through our fundraising, we provide a range of support services for capital projects, equipment, training and additional medical staff. Our support enables ongoing enhancements to facilities and equipment and the life-line of Patient and Family Support Groups and financial assistance packages. We are committed to raising funds for our local Paediatric Oncology Shared Care Units (POSCU). We also fund four childhood cancer support groups offering valuable support to oncology children and their families. Tiger Ward – Queen Elizabeth Hospital – We have helped to fund a new kitchen, sensory equipment and a magic floor, a Health Care Assistant and specialist medical equipment including custom built blood pressure machines. We have put in a coffee machine on the Ward and we top up the children’s treasure chest on a regular basis.
